Which football fans are worse..South Florida or LA?

LA couldn't support an NFL team..that is horrible....

BUT

Hearing a "LET'S GO EAGLES" chant in Miami is appaling. I'm sick to my stomach. There is nothing I hate more than when a visiting team is cheered on the road, especially in the NFL. Now I'll go beat my wife since she's an Eagles fan.

20,000 Eagles fans were at this game swam....I know there are a lot of Philly transplants there and a LOT of Philly fans went down because it's been horrible weather here!

They picked a good game to travel for!

BTW Swami.....you should have seen the treatment I got at the Broncos\Chiefs game last week in full red paint & an Indian head dress.

The plastic beer bottles never stopped raining on my section, and that was the least of it.

Where in the country can you go and not find a lot of Philly fans? These guys must never have been to a road Flyers game. I went and saw them play in Phoenix some years back when they were still a divisional match. My buddy insisted on going so we flew down from Vegas. The flight was like the Eagles booster club, over half wearing an Eagles jersey. Inside the stadium it was more like 60% Eagles fans. At least at Dolphins games they get a lot of local fans, go to a Cardinals game and you will see no matter who they play a lot of people wearing the other team's jersey.

thank god you are not a soccer fan. as a fan and a former soccer player, i've been at probably thousands of soccer games, at dozens of venues all across the europe. and let me tell you my friend, if you come to ANY city in europe wearing the road team yersey, and if you have no police escorting you, people will eat you alive

yeah, that would be nice. as a fan i've experienced the rivaleries like inter-milano (several times), roma-lazio (once), real-barca (once), red star-partizan (110 000 attendence)...and i would really love to see a man utd vs ars or manu vs liverpool game live.too bad i've been living in a serie B italian city for the past few months. we are just 10 pts back from the 5th place which guarantees the promotion to the seria a. but we did use to have a good football team with maradona in it many years ago.

Bill-

I'm spoiled, that's the problem. I've lived in the NYC area my entire life with the exception of years spent away at school. We NY fans are passionate about our teams even when they lose. When our team isn't performing well, you don't hear us cheering for the other teams just booing our own...that's the way it should be despite player protests (many believe that they shouldn't be booed).

The issue with So. Florida is that there are sooooo many transplants there. Even as a Yankee fan, I was disgusted to hear so many cheers for the Yankees during the World Series.

I'm into civic pride and the portion of the crowd rooting for the visting team should be intimidated enough NOT to cheer too loudly. I'm not suggesting throwing beer bottles but at a minimum the home crowd should do something about the visting team's fans.

For Example:

Eagles Fans: "Let's go Ea-gles!!"
Miami Fans: "Ea-gles Suck"

Or something along those lines.

Bottom line is that I am more annoyed that the Giants have had the most disappointing and underperforming year than they've had in decades AND my wife's Eagles are having a very good season. It didn't help that the Eagles didn't have to play in hostile territory last night and I had to endure this quote from my lovely wife, "wow, this is like a home game for us, they're even giving the DUUUUUUCE chant."

I don't like that behavior because it generally ruins the game for everyone in that section. I'm sure the folks sitting next to you loved you!!!

I have a colleague who is a Bosox fan and we went to a few Yanks/Bosox games together. Damn, I hated sitting next to him. I felt like Benedict Arnold for even being seen with him. It was all good though, they didn't treat him too badly.

I think it's fine to support your team when they are on the road I just think there are ways that the home crowd can minimize the effect of the visiting team's fans.

So. Fla. and LA are infamous for their lack of support for sports teams. I guess it has to do with the weather.

You guys just don't understand LA and I suppose other cities. I grew up there and let me tell you, there are almost as many fans that just hate the local teams, I was one included. My friends in school all had different favorite teams and they didn't include the locals all that much. My friend like the Houston Oilers, had an ugly baby blue satin jacket and would sing that damn song "Houston Oilers #1" all the time. Only thing was the guy had never been to Houston! Same for me, I liked the Broncos because they were winning when I first started watching, the year they went to the Superbowl. I finally made it to Denver when I was 14. The Lakers had a lot of fans, but they were winning all the time. You are right the support is terrible, but that is just the way it is.

We didn't live in a city, therefore we root for the local teams as is the rule in most other towns. I don't live in LA anymore, but I am guessing nothing has changed since I was growing up.

South Florida is the worst for supporting their teams. I think with so many transplants and an average age of deceased it won't change any time soon. Weather is nice too. Lot easier for a Packer fan to visit us than a group of Floridians to fly up to Green Bay in December. I don't even own a heavy coat or a pair of gloves.

Winning helps too. In Tampa we used to be 50/50 for the Bears and Packer games when the team sucked. Hell I don't know if we even had 50% of the fans then, it's about 98% pro Bucs in the stadium these days. You want the fans to come? Just win baby.

Bill-

Why did you "hate" your "local" team? You are ABSOLUTELY right, I don't understand. I can understand the hatred if you are a transplant and don't feel like your city is "home."

I've "hated" (meaning cursed) the Giants, Rangers, Knicks, and Yankees at various times in my life but I was always a "fan." My hatred was due to them breaking my heart or management fielding another sub par team (and charging me a high price to watch the team).

Last time I saw the Bucs in person was at the Big Sombrero and I was still a Bears fan back then. Don't know what year it was, but it poured rain like cats and dogs. Few Bucs fans were to be seen. Of course the Bears won and I stayed till the last play and got pneumonia.

Man that was a long time ago.

The Lightning is a great example. Half the fans that were there during the recent very lean years were transplants. More visiting team sweaters than home team in the stands. But not during the playoff year against the Flyers back in the Fruit Dome in '96. What a crowd--biggest ever. Winning changes all of that.

Long shot that it could also happen for the Rays. But I don't see a winner in my lifetime. Not enough $--never will be in bases and simply put they play Boston and the Yanks too many times.

One thing about Miami though. God I hate the so called sports fans down there and that stupid "Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins number one" thing they blare out of the speakers every time they kick even a field goal, which is thankfully not very often now.

But I did visit a friend in '99 and saw a wild card game with Buffalo. Man it took two hours to get out of the Pro Players parking lot. Wish we would have left early.
