Do they ever get this right?

Anyone watching the royal screwing Baltimore`s getting by the Zebras in Oakland?

The Ref`s doing everything in their power to fukk the Ravens!

Instant replay on a 2-point conversion, the player CLEARLY has the ball breaking the plain but yet the replay official cannot conclude this conclusively?

Please can this pathetic waste of time known as the Instant Replay Rule!

But IMO its a complete joke, and should nt be renewed this offseason and probably won`t be! When the ref goes under the hood and the whole world knows what should be changed and then isn`t, you have a problem! aND THIS HAPPENS JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEK....Or they have the phantom 'inadvetant whistle' AKA the ref bailout line....Its about the most vague bunch of bullshit in all of sports rules...NFL was better without it!

The FACT is that it gets the call right more times than not........by a wide margin.

Its a good thing........IMO.

No offense intended here, but to the uninitiated it would appear that there is a pattern developing regarding your assessment of the accuracy of official's judgement, regardless of the sport. Suprisingly, the calls seem to be especially bad when you are on the wrong side ats.

A suggestion would be to select a game that goes your way, handily, and make some sort of comment regarding how well the game was officiated. That might be enough to deflect what appears to be obvious bias on your part. I offer this as sincere advice, hoping you will agree after some careful consideration.

I didn`t have the Ravens but will be the first to admit I will cry to the high heavens if I think it would help me get a call, either playing or betting on a game,lol...

But seriously I have felt this way about instant replay for years...I just think the system is too flawed, way too many holes in it! And when even the announcers are scratching their heads well....

I think the NFL overall has went downhill, we have QB`s being treated where now you can`t breathe on them , the replay is so flawed its not worth it....I will admit the post was inspired by my disappointment today involving the Ravens game (and that is my state team) but I will also admit if the Ravens can`t beat Oakland even with the blown call then they don`t deserve it...

sorry if I offended you Vinman!

No offense taken, am sure none was intended. Just an observation on my part. Good luck with your games. It's all good.

I think I have to agree with instant replay because I think more calls get called correctly then they would without it. Even if they challenge a play and it should be reversed and isn't, its just the same as no instant replay. If the call is challenged and was wrong it gets corrected.

Just my opinion

you make a good point too...it just seems the sysytem in place now could be a helluva lot better...too many holes, you have certain plays that can`t be reviewed that should be, you have phantom whistles being blown that when you watch the replay hear no whistles?

I think it should be revised or done with and I know its up for review this offseason...The Ravens game today you had a runner at the goal line, he is shown HOLDING the ball breaking the plain and for some reason the ref rules inconclusive??? I don`t know how it couold have been anymore conclusive!

Its an emotional game, what can I say lol?

How would you restucture the system to make it better? Other than, of course, having Journeyman make all the key calls from his recliner in Baltimore?

The replay would be in good hands if I was doing the ruling! For starters I would do away with the ridiculous Peepshow (no pun intended)

I would rather see a panel off 3 league officials at each game...remember early on they did the replay from behind that shield upstairs...I`d rather see it go back to someone upstairs for starters....

I rememer one time Billick was complaining that the replay referee sometimes doesn`t even 'possibly' see all the vantage shots we see from home!? And I found that amazing...

If I could say no replay I would though, look at what has become of so many rules, the tuck rule, the reciever catching the ball and being in control....its just become more and more complicated....

Vini- do you think the rule needs improving?

I guess you might say I am something of a traditionalist. If something has worked for 75+ years, I am very cautious about going in a different direction.

That said, technology has advanced well beyond what anyone might have imagined 50 years ago. The current system is good, especially if the referree is willing to have his team overruled when they obviously have erred.

Perhaps take the challenges away from the coaches and let the upstairs official have a few moments whenever the call is questionable.

Just to be clear, it would be fine with me if replay went away, the BCS was gone, baseball went back to a World Series between the National League pennant winner vs. the American League pennant winner and NCAA football went back to real football when deciding close games.

Not that you care abouy my opinion, but thanks anyway for asking.

I asked because I did want your opinion...not sure why you said that?

Anyway what did you mean when you referred to college football?

I am a traditionalist as well, I`d rather see less teams making the playoffs , make the regular season meaningful again!

Good Post!

Replay is needed in NFL because too many mistakes are made by these ref's, but I do agree that the way its used is a joke. Too many times a Ref will let the play stand as called not to show up his officiating crew, its amazing how many times they can still get it wrong after watching it in slow motion for 2 mins. Replay is needed but the process has to be modified!

Replay is great except that it takes too long sometimes. There is probably about 40 replays per week at least. There will usually be a few missed calls. No big deal. 90% accuracy isn't that bad.

yea the idea of an impartial crew to review plays upstairs with no ties to the refs might be a good idea. Then they wouldn't be partial to agreeing with the refs original decision.
