Have no idea who these guys are-suspect a scam- anyone else get this?
Dear e-gold user.

At 12.13.2003 the e-gold company has blocked a number of accounts
in the system connected with money laundering and credit card fraud
activity. The information in regards to those accounts has been passed
to our corresponded banks, local and international authotities.

Due to database operations some accounts can be lost. We are insisting
to our clients to check their account if they are active or if their current
balance is right.
If you will find any presence of fraudulent activites at your account -
let us know immediately at e-mail anti-fraud@e-gold.com
Don't wait until criminals will steal your money - help the authorities to
block their accounts.

To check your account please click on the link below. Thank you.

That e-mail is a widely-known scam that has nothing to do with e-gold itself. It basically targets people stupid enough to believe that e-gold would send out such a mail, by tricking them into "logging in" at a site which is not in fact the e-gold site, but a copy. Similar scams abound for users of PayPal and other online financial services.

There is a fairly lengthy thread on the benefits of using e-gold here. There has been ample discussion of the problem of e-mail scam artists on the official e-gold discussion list.
