If I start playing with Pro 5, why would some posters feel obligated to flame me?

Obviously, I know at least (if not more) about the book than they do.

It is MY money is I would be risking, not theirs.

So why would the personal attacks come on? What is their purpose?

And would you feel that these personal attacks are fair? As in any player that plays at a book that does not meet certain member's of the communities standards should be attacked?

I don't think it is fair. So be it...

I don't think you would be flamed merely for playing at a sports book. The flames would probably come if you endorsed them (especially without having played with them first), and if you played with them and THEN got stiffed... well I don't think a fallout shelter would protect you then. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

first of all, your chances of getting stiffed at Pro 5 is exactly 0%. Why would they stiff you? First of all, I know you are NOT a big players, so if you send them funds, I can picture you sending 300 bucks. They will NEVER stiff you for anything around that because it would not be worth it for them. Plus, you would be the wrong guy to stiff because of you being connected in a big way here. When they're going to stiff someone, it's going to be for over 15 dimes and to a guy who has NO idea what a public forum is.

I saw a guy yesterday pulled over on the side of the road burning $20 dollar bills. I didn't flame him. I don't care, though I can't recommend others doing it. I wouldn't flame anyone for playing with their money at Pro5 either, just wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

So, What I get is if I played there I would be OK.

If I mentioned how it went, you guys feel it would be justified for me to be flamed either way.

You fail to distinguish between people flaming YOU for playing at Pro-5 and people flaming Pro-5. They've screwed some folks here in the past and the screwees feel justified in warning others about them. If you get flamed personally for defending them it may have something to do with your "official position" at the Rx and the implication that the Rx is defending this book rather than merely "Peep the poster".

Good post, I agree 100% with the distinction you make.

I certainly don't mind anybody flaming Pro 5.

I just don't think I should be flamed if I post my experiences (good or bad) about playing there.

Agree the fact that I work for Rx makes my position more difficult, but I don't think it justifies attacking me for reporting good and bad experiences I have playing at a book.

I have been doing that since before I worked here. I am a small player, and if some asks about a book, I think I should give my experiences if I have played there.

Yes it was a couple of years ago and yes time heals all wounds. However, they have made no effort to make good on thier debts nor have they even offered even a lame ass apology.

With the quantity of books that have not stiffed anyone (let alone everyone), why are you even asking the question?

But, to answer it, I would have to agree with Chuck Sims (possibly the first time in 2 years...), though I do not think being a moderator makes a difference.
