Okay, so I'm booking everything this weekend for my vegas trip. Help me choose between these three hotels.

1) MGM Grand - $89 a night
2) New York, New York - $66 a night
3) Alladin - $89 a night

Keep in mind we are two 23 year old guys looking to have a good time. We plan on playing quarter hands each at the tables and would like to get some free food at the minimum. I have heard MGM doesn't comp very much. Anyways, what would you choose?

New York, New York. Just be careful you don't get a room near the rollercoaster.

They have the ESPN Zone there, so you should have a good time watching sports.

The MGM has the nicest sports book of the three.

New York New York. Do not gamble $25 a hand so you can get a comp. Your "free meal" may cost you $500 or more in losses. Vegas has become sucker town U.S.A.

Don't worry. That's what we normally play anyways. Just want to make sure that we're staying somewhere that values our action.

Alladin: Better rooms and shopping

MGM ; The place is a barn and has older rooms

NY : A real tourist hell hole.

Mgm: Too big. It could take you forever to get to your room at the home of former Tropicana golf course.
NYNY. A Mirage Property. I heard more complaints about the Mirage rooms when I drove a cab.
Try Alladin. The newer of the three and Fishhead former employer when it was the old Alladin. I hear their buffet is outstanding.

I agree with Joey, NYNY is a nightmare.

You left out EXCALIBUR where you can hopefully get comped their Lancelotta Pasta

23 yr olds should like Mandalay, Rio or Hard Rock, imo. Good luck on your trip. Don't bring 40k along if you know what I mean.

I stayed at Alladin recently. No complaints. The room was really very nice. The sportsbook is nothing to speak of but that's what going out is for. Stay at Alladin and hang out at the others. The location of Alladin is very good right across from Bellagio and next to Bally's. Oh, and the buffet is very good. So is Bellagio's.

LOL! Thanks for reminding me......not!

How much time does one spend in a hotel room when going to Las Vegas for a week or less? Having said that, I would recommend staying at the Westword Ho for a few bucks a night.

Differant strokes fishy ...

I love a quiet drink, room service and "my game" in the privacy of a posh room.

After a couple hours of a loud but fun craps game I really enjoy "chillin."

That reminds me ... I need to start drinking now my flight leaves at 7:30 !

Alladin is good - Venetian is better - worth the extra bucks - spend less at the tables.

Fish has a good point about the time spent in a hotel room. I'm going in just over a week and have the Stratosphere for $18 mid-week which I think is far superior to the Westward Ho and The Orleans at $27 on the weekend.

However if I was spendng your kind of money I would go for the $109 Venetian suite for Dec 7-8 assuming they are still available. http://dir.travelzoo.com/Lodging.asp?intCategory=22&id=120297

As long as you average at least $25 per hand for a minimum of four hours per day, you should get at least a free meal from on of those three casinos. But if you averaged that at Stardust or the Golden Nugget, you would probably get both your room and meals comped. It is much eaasier to get comps from a Downtown hotel or off the strip hotel, then from the strip hotels. The exceptions are the hotels that are on the strip but not near central areas. Examples are Stratosphere, Riveria, Stardust, and the LV Hilton.

Dante, I got The Orleans for $27 on Dec 19/20 which has to be the slowest weekend of the year. The rate was at tripreservations.com and was reduced from an over $30 rate I'd seen earlier.

Since I'll be playing poker I won't be looking for a room comp and wouldn't be able to, since the room is prepaid. Their poker room has a reasonable hourly rate for food on their card and meals get really cheap in the coffee shop after midnight.
