Here we go again! Any chance of someone posting the story here in this thread? I still can't access the Rx homepage.

Stew, on the top of this thread (on the upper right hand side next to sports book reviews) there is a link right on the site to the RX home page. Try that one.

We've been through this all before but once again when I click on that icon or any other attempt to reach the Rx homepage, for instance, www.theRX.com, a window opens that says...
download the page to...and then gives various choices such as desktop, hard drive, etc.

Shrink has had his tech people try to help me but to no avail...i was unable to access the RX at all until one day by chance I received the Rx newsletter which had a link to the Rx forums in it and for some strange reason, that link took me to the forum, which I quickly bookmarked and now can enter the forums but still not the Rx homepage.

The really amazing thing is that we've had this conversation twice now and you still don't believe me....what do I possibly have to gain by lying to you that I can't access the Rx homepage?

Stew - I see in your post you typed www.theRX.com with the letters RX capitalized. DO NOT put those letters in caps. Just type with ALL lower case.

Caps shouldn't matter Charlie.

fwiw, the homepage loads pretty slow for me and I have a good connection, so I'm not surprised it's not loading for some.

A HISTORY OF THE ROTATION 12/03/03 - Charlie Maxwell

It’s called a rotation, but it has nothing to do with tires on a car or switching positions in volleyball.

This rotation is a listing of all the sporting events on a given day in a specific order. It is utilized on the betting boards of every Nevada sports book and in every large offshore sports betting establishment.

To a person unfamiliar with sports wagering, the importance of having the games listed in a certain order may be a mystery. But to the millions of sports bettors who have made more than a couple of wagers in their life (both legally and illegally), it is a necessity.

Try getting a betting line read to you on a busy college football or basketball Saturday and see if you can write those numbers down without having them in an order that EVERYONE uses. You probably would have more success eating soup with a fork.

The product we are describing is called the International Rotation, and it is compiled in Las Vegas by the folks at Don Best Sports.

But, in a business where it’s unusual to get anyone to agree on much of anything, how is it possible that every sports book at home and abroad is using the same rotation?

Well, it wasn’t easy and it wasn’t always the case. So, a little history may be in order.

The sports schedule isn’t a new product and it hasn’t always emanated from Las Vegas. Jerry Kilgore started the schedule rotation out of a California office in the 70s. He called it the J.K. Sports Schedule and bulk-mailed for a fee to the few Nevada sports books that existed.

Unfortunately, there were periods when the schedules didn’t arrive in Las Vegas in time for that week’s games. There were also problems with the accuracy of some of the starting times, as network and cable television stations starting changing those times to suit their schedule.

That brought up the possibility of the sports books taking bets after a game had already begun (getting past-posted).

That’s when Jim Feist and Gary Austin, two Las Vegas entrepreneurs who were heavily involved in sports betting, entered the scene.

The year was 1981, and the sports service industry was just beginning to grow and flourish. Feist owned National Sports Service and Austin was the proprietor of the Austin Edge. Both sports service companies provided the betting line to customers over the phone, and both made sports selections available at various prices.

Though they were very fierce competitors fighting for the same customer base in a very narrow market, they each saw the need for the sports schedule to be made and distributed in Las Vegas instead of California.

It wasn’t easy getting the sports books to change the rotation and use another product. And if it were two ‘square’ bettors doing the persuading, it probably would have never taken place. But Austin and Feist were big sports bettors around town, with Sports Illustrated even writing an article concerning the amount of money Austin wagered on football.

When the Stardust, Churchill Downs, Santa Anita, the Del Mar and the Union Plaza made the switch, the rotation gradually changed hands.

The schedule was given away free and the sports books were called on a daily basis with any time changes in every sport on the betting board.

An interview with Gary Pasquale, Director of Schedule Services for Don Best Sports, will highlight next week’s Part 2. We will also delve into how the schedule grew into its current international status and how the rotation is made.

When Fiest or Kilgore had the roatiton it was a nice clean looking schedule and always orginized. Don Best got into it changed the name to the international roatition and it has been DOWN hill ever since the first day they started. They screwed up everything from added games to amatuer looking grids and it basically became a news rag for touts and Don Best selling all the con BS. The ols FDiest National Roatition was way better then this Don Best Garbage Roation (but then again , this is just another Don Best screw up to the industry).

Reverse, I respect your opinion, but how can you say that Feist's schedule was better? Talk about a rag soiled with ads from the lowest of the low touts. Any sportsbook in the don best schedule cannot come close to the dregs that appeared inm feists schedule. JK's schedule was clean, i agree. Don best's schedule is not bad. And as much as people like to piss on don best's service, it is still by far the bestone out there. good night.

Not pissing on Don Best, just talking. The Fiest schedule did have it's share of touts I agree. But it was way better to work off of. Big grids on nice bright white paper. Fiest and Kilgore knew how to make a schedule. Don Best got into the business and turned it into shit. Lots of mistakes, loads of time changes, horrible grids, fuked up added games last year, horrible back round paper, first box is way out in right field from the actual teams. Just wish someone that knew the business was making the schedule. Later

Reverse box - There will ALWAYS be a ton of time changes during the college football and basketball seasons because the networks and cable companies ask for those time changes as the season progresses to televise the games.

The added games are not determined by the staff at Don Best alone, there are several INDUSTRY people involved in those decisions.
