COMPUTER. There are several companies that offer this service. What this software does is erase all cookies and anything incriminating that is left on your hard-drive. These companies include EE, (evidenceeliminator.com, staganos, and several others. Do your homework, and find out which one is most reputable. I have a friend who had some legal problems, and part of his parole was that he couldn't gamble online. Parole officer came in with other cops and seized his computer for analysis. He used this hard-drive washing software, and they found ZERO evidence that he was wagering online, and had to let him go. Without this software, he was convinced he would have been in deep shit. Any good softward that scrubs your harddrive will work. I say that everyone who is slightly paranoid about wagering online should use this. I hope this may help someone out there. Good luck, and let us all win and retain our ability to wager online!

If you're going to be that careful/paranoid, you should also use a commercial proxy (like Anonymizer, although one in a foreign country would be better) so that your ISP can't tell where you're "surfing". Some commercial proxies support two-way encrypted traffic, which means that nobody between you and the proxy (such as your ISP under subpoena from the law) can tell what you're sending or receiving.

The old ballgame, very solid advice. As long as there are smart guys like you and others that i have spoken to, there will be absolutely NOOOOO way to stop inet gaming. The gov. should wake up and regulate. Simply too many brilliant guys who will find ways to circumvent.

Appreciate the tips guys. I'm not really paranoid but why not keep as much nice and neat as you can? Especially if it's not a big hassle to get done. Thanks guys.

Weekendalki,

Can you share a little more of the story about your friend's legal troubles which would cause them to come in and check his computer. What state was he in and what type of legal trouble was he in, etc?
Thanks in advance.

I guss it may be a little to early forWeekend".

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this. Would it not be simpler for them to just "follow the Money" That is transfers to and from your bank account or in a few cases credit cards transactions that go offshore? Also, I read where those "washing" programs are pretty much obsolete as the government has technology to recover you washing with those commercial programs. Hey please correct me if I'm wrong about this. What I know about computers would fit in a thimble. Well, I'll check back tonight as I have an appt with my "shrink" shortly.

A new hard drive is the way to go at least for me. I like to get a new hard drive and new cc #'s once a year. I'm not smart enough to keep up with all the CC scams or what programs hackers can install on the system.

a reformatting of your hard drive isn't good enough thats for sure becuase if they wanted to they could flash that harddrive and still get the dirt on you that you were trying to erase.

Oldman, good question. He got in trouble on a local bookmaking beef, which was his 2nd offense. Part of his parole was no trips to Vegas, and no gambling whatsoever. they came in and checked his computer, found nothing, and he was o.k.

BTW, I am not sure if any of this computer washing stuff works either, i am just trying to protect myself, and all of us here any way that i can. this information may be flawed, but i don't think it ever hurts to protect ourselves as much as possible.

After all, if these forums aren't used to help each other, then why in the hell are we here?

Weekendalki,

Much appreciated info. I suffer from an anxiety disorder for which, I find gambling most relaxing. It's nothing like the alcoholism that directed my life for so many years. No--I'm not a bookie in any sense whatsoever. And it is a bit reassuring to know that there was a little more to your friend's problem. I hope all goes well for him and if it is an addiction that he will be ok. Thanks for providing more info. Sometimes I picture this government of ours with their over manipulation of everything simply stoping by door to door and checking all home computers for no reason.
