A 27-year-old Japanese male porn star believes that his chosen profession has made him stupid, as well as susceptible to disease.
Futoshi Sato says he's appeared in over 2,000 adult films.
"On average, I ejaculate 70 times a month, so I've become really stupid," said Sato. "All you think about is sex, so that makes you pretty stupid."
Sato, who takes a zinc supplement to make up for what he loses through his on-the-job energy spurts, has picked up a number of reminders of the dangers of his chosen profession.
"You get lots of sexually transmitted diseases. I've caught the human papilloma virus (HPV) twice, chlamydia once and crabs five times. Nearly every male porno actor has got herpes and it breaks out really easily whenever you're tired," he says.
Sato says most actors rarely check up on their pubic health unless they know they're going to be asked to perform without a condom.
"Nearly every male AV actor I know has also suffered from some form of facial paralysis," Sato says. "I don't know whether it comes from too much licking, or from being too nervous, but I've got no doubt it has something to do with the job."
Sato says that male porn stars also endure:
Fractured phalluses due to irregular positions
Something called a "weak growth plate" in the hand from too much fingering
Painful chafing or friction burns can result from receiving too much fellatio.
"Because you need to have shots fired, sometimes you're expected to ejaculate even when you're unable to rise to the occasion," Sato says. "At times when I've had to do that, I've started seeing spots before my eyes and lost the hearing in one ear. These are symptoms that are showing me I'm clearly shortening my life."
"Scatology movies can be lethal. I've heard of an actor dying after picking up bacteria from feces during a scatology shoot," Sato says. "My prostate swelled up enormously once after doing some scat work."
