Yesterday I noticed in the St. Pete Times that Coach Leavitt and AD Selmon are trying to get a 'miracle bowl bid" for USF by petitioning that one of the Div 1-AA wins be counted as a win.

Last February as I remember Baylor and Eastern Michigan opted out of contracted games and USF rescheduled with Nichols St. and Charleston Southern. They never did schedule an additional game. OK, they didn't have time.

But I'm almost sure I read that UCF offered to schedule a series that would have begun with a game this fall but Selmon rejected that thus setting up a very difficult scenario for getting that elusive bowl bid. Now the crying starts.

Do you know anything more than I do about this?

And BTW, I used your NFL tip last night and cashed not only on Jax but the under as well. Thanks.

Really don't understand how there could have been so many folks on the Bucs. By game time there were +3.5's around. For one thing, didn't most of us agree that after the one game adrenaline "we can do it without Key" rush, reality would set in especially without JJ.?

Congrats on the BUCS game sir!

Dont believe USF has a snowballs chance in hell of getting a bowl game. What a terribe thing to have not one, but TWO Division II teams on the schedule.

Thanks Fish. I get the Times and don't always buy the Trib. And didn't get to Sportpages.com this weekend so I would have missed this story.

I'm 90% sure that Selmon did reject UCF's offer to play this season. I know I read that, and the only doubt would be if it was an accurate report or not. I'd like to see the local press bring that up but they won't.

Wonder who would have won that one though if it was true. I suppose Selmon didn't know Kruczek's house would burn down. I see where in the pre-season Sporting News rankings USF was #52 and UCF was #66. Too much risk involved I suppose.

It's one thing to be butt phucked once like Marquel and Kawika did. But Reed and others took it twice. If Selmon did in fact reject a game with UCF, I petition the expressway be renamed the J.R. Reed expressway so this would never be forgotten.

USF vs. UCF? IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME

"Play the game.

Put it on the football schedule.

Central Florida vs. South Florida.

We all know how desperate the UCF Golden Knights are for this game. They'd fall on their swords. They'd rearrange their lives, find babysitters for USF coaches, sell candybars outside supermarkets, anything to play Jim Leavitt's mighty Bulls. It's comical.

Please. Oh pretty please...."
