Anyone from Vancouver here?

Today, I went to my local Western Union to withdraw some cash from a sportsbook and when I went there the teller (named Peter) whispered with the question, is this offshore betting?

I said yes, how'd you know?

He replied and told me gets a few customers weekly that go to this particular WesternUnion to deposit at books such as Olympic, BetPanam...those were the exact books he mentioned. I was shocked.

I asked him on average how many people a week would deposit to these countries in Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica...He told me he sees on average 5-6 ppl. Wow... I'm very surprised!

Gotta know, does anyone here from Vancouver use WU and deposit to the books?

I was up in Vancouver a while back visiting a friend. And I went to a money mart there. And it's funny, the teller asked me the same question. And the most common book that the players sent money to was Olympic. I guess because they offer quick collect and let you play in canadian.

Ivan is that the Money Mart on 3rd near the Sea Bus? I used to live almost across the street from that place and I knew a manager there. He was a big gambler, he and I went to play blackjack together a few times. Maybe that is why there is the gambling connection?

It has been a long time since I lived there Ivan, back in 1992. I do go back once in awhile as I still have friends in that particular neighborhood, I don't blame them for not wanting to leave that area.

I think there are two Money Marts close by because I remember seeing one on Lonsdale as well up a bit from the Sea Bus. North Van is the greatest, I would love to live there again was the best 5 months of my life!

Well, I live South of the city near the airport and in the drier microclimate. I don't use Western Union but I do bank in Blaine.

Considering the great deal BC lotteries offers on their 3 team parlays it's no wonder there is a strong offshore business.

I have been in vancouver on and off for a couple of years. Van is awesome, and the people are even better. Shocking how the quality of people varies between Van. and the states. The Canucks are even a great team now, and the restaurants are world class. Gotham is a 10!

Thanks Ivan:

Read it again and tell me you still can't follow my logic. There is a strong offshore business because of the odds offered on 3 team parlays by the BC lotteries.
