You can sleep fairly sound at night with money in these books. Guessing these would be pretty close to Wild Bills seven also.

Jersey Joe - Wild Bill is out of town this weekend, but I will forward him your question. Maybe he can even do a story on it.

Fish....Please tell me...no tell us all what you know about these books...and please dont tell me what you read here....tell me what YOU actually know.

Lets go one by one...lets start with BCBETS...what is it you actually know about this place?

Tell us:

How big they are....number of players.....type of handle you think thye are doing..etc.

If your going to be a moderator of this place...I think its time you guys are held accountable for the posts you make.

I am sure most here would feel that is fair..

As a moderator here, I say myhorseracing.com is the #1 site in the world IMO, then it goes under(dead broke the next week), what do you recommend as defining being held accountable?

General.....Held accountable might be a little harsh....lol

Just think before a moderate makes a statement like that.....he/she should have some knowledge of the business that they are touting...yes?

So before someone says (especially a moderator) something like "you can sleeep sound with money in these books" I would hope they would know something about the business they speak about...something besides them being a advertiser here...or something besides getting paid quickly...heck...thats the books job...lol How about some research......like how many players....where is the balance of the post up money kept.....how they ae doing year to year..etc...

General...for all I know...Bcbets is a very small operation..ran by 2-3 people in CR...maybe they have deep pockets by beating one guy out of tons of money....maybe they got lucky and beat the tooth paiste guy out of millions.....who knows....but I sure would like some research done before I spouted off at the mouth....but heck..what do I know

I understand where you are coming from. That info is hard to get. Latest Volume, latest debts, latest assets, employees, customer base, etc...

I think there are very few who do know this other than the man running the show. As moderators, we strive for peace and activity in the forums(that is our defined role), and we often speak about books which we hear good or bad things about. Our info usually comes from contacts which we trust. But, I trusted Mike Silver, so what do I know

The General makes a very good point.A moderator can make mistakes. Its hard to find out just how big a book is.

Here's my top seven for whats its worth.Hope Wild Bill will give his opinion when he gets back.
1.Hollywood-Best customer service-Top clerks.

1.Hollywood-Best customer service- Top clerks.
2.Grande-Takes huge limits
3.Chris-Puts out the numbers early
4.Cascade-Gives players many different options
5.Pinacle-Would be at the top but doesn't honor numbers on Don Best.
6.Jazz-has made a great rebound
7.Olympic- would also be at top but doesn't honor numbers on Don Best. All of the above books in my opinion your money is safe as it can possibly be.Again this is just my humble opinion.

Damn Jersey I am at this moment like shouting from you staying near the Meadowlands for a little vacation.

Thing about picking solid books is there aren't any without a doubt. As it is all we can do is act on hearsay because I personally know the owners of two books and I wouldn't include them in this list for reasons of independence. So here goes:

1. Pinnacle - just because I believe in their business model.
2. Canbet - just the way they operate makes me believe that they are the closest thing to an old-time book, one that moves on action and not air.
3. CRIS - everyone says so, so why argue? I heard they are about as funded as you can get.
4. WWTS - similar to CRIS argument
5. NASA - not that I would say they are a good choice to play with, especially if you might even beat them, but if you are just asking safety hard to argue they don't have a ton of money
6. Olympic - call it a mix of a CRIS-like reputation and a bit of Canbet style theory. Like NASA unless you really see a lot of props you want to play, not the best choice for a player but certainly safe.
7. WSEX - solid shop that could almost thumb their noses at the law, they seem to picked up a lot more positive effect than negative from the Jay Cohen ordeal. I am trying to remember the fool that wrote "get your money out, they are connected to a convicted felon and the wall will come down on them soon" about a year ago. Maybe someone can refresh my memory.

Note that a lot of these books I don't keep an account with. To me it makes little sense to keep a book with regular or high vig unless they have lines that differ from the rest.

Wild Bill a little surprise by NASA being in your top seven. This is a book that plain out stiffed Billy Walters about five years ago. There reason for stiffing him was he was playig computer games. The Shrink can verify this.A little surprise Hollywood didn't make your top seven.Everybody else on your list I concur with.

Well depends on how you ask the question Jersey. If you are asking quality and who I would play with NASA wouldn't make it. If you are asking what books have the ability (maybe not the willingness) to pay then it is a totally different question. Hollywood certainly could make the list, it is merely just a list of 7 books. In any case like I say I don't like to make too many guesses on this. Don't take anything I say as "Wildbill says this book is solid" because that isn't what I am saying.

I accept what you have to say.I understand you don't want to go out on a limb considering the state of the off-shore industry these days.

It isn't that, it is the fact that I personally do not know the financial state of any of these guys and few do. Most have ideas and know people on a personal trust basis, but the bottom lines? I doubt there is anyone that knows the nuts and bolts, the dollars being made or lost across a spectrum of books. It just isn't possible for the most part because the numbers are closely guarded secrets. Without that you can't truly say who is the safest, it just isn't feasible.
