Can the books market this and profit? It wasn't long ago we discussed 107, then 105, maybe 104??

Thoughts?

Thanks

General, would think there has to be a point where there would be no profit left.I'm waiting for a book to give bettors juice.

How about +5 cents on each side?? Bet 100 to win 105 on both sides??

Players want their cake, a beer, a whore, a free car, and be able to eat their cake too.

Enough is enough.

If these books keep giving away the house to attract players eventually your going to see alot more books go broke. To let players lay 105 and 107 you have to really know what your doing. Can you imagine the lost revenue Pinacle has suffer this season with the way all the favorites have been covering. Its hard to imagine how these places can let wise guys lay 105 and expect to make a profit.

I honestly am very fine with 110 all the way around. We are spoiled, but I would accept 110 again. We are maybe to far gone for that, but it is acceptable to me. The less juice shops are getting their attention for sure.

I don't know who offers -105 besides Pinnacle but you won't get that if you hit them up for five figures. I don't know from experience or anything, but I have heard it from a person who I think would know.

Last year Direcbet had -104 on NFL all the time (sides and totals) from about now through the end of the season.

MajorBetting has had -104 fridays for this season.

Carib has dealt -102 tuesdays for a long time.

The NFL (other than baseball I suppose) is probably the only sport you can go that low and still grind out a profit. NBA or either NCAA sport would probably start the book into a tailspin (see NAB as a point of reference).

If books want to attract bettors, a better marketing strategy might be to offer a break in some other sports, like hockey, soccer, golf, hillbies driving around in circles, tennis etc. (even with lower limits).

The book that did this would definitely distinguish itself and the guy who plays there because of the great prices in those/that sport, might also throw quite a bit of his action their way come saturday, sunday and monday night.

You'd be nuts to play into a book offering -104.

Pinnacle is the only -105 book I'd play with.

Test -104 waters or -105 with many other books than Pinnacle and you can kiss your loot goodbye because that book aint staying in business long.

jersey joe,
Pinnacle does not take positions on at least the NBA and European football. There are enough guys out there waiting to bet on the other side, when Pinnacle is forced to move the line.

Regarding the vig. I know of at least one site, Indosport, that has 5 cent lines on the English Premier League.

kev, i have been with IIS for years now and never had a problem getting paid. I just requested a large payout from them last week and got paid the next day. I agree with you that one should be leery, but i certainly think that there are several reduced juice books that are doing well. After all, at IIs their limit is only $500.00 Pinnacle takes HUGE. If i was getting 105 from a book, and they were taking 5k from everyone, i would be scared if they haven't been around forever. Good luck.

I really think the juice affects only sharp players - the average schmuck recreational gamblers has no clue how important numbers, reduced juice and money management are - these players are going to lose no matter what juice they have (even +125) - I don't care if they win 10 dimes in the first month - they will double there bets the next month and lose it all plus anotehr 10 dimes - most players lose because of greed and poor money management, i.e., betting 20% of their bank on one game or doubling their bets if they win or betting all the TV games - most players never get into a long term grind where reduced juice would really help you to tread water. Reduced juice only helps players that are trying to win slightly more games than they lose and who are willing to bet a very small percentage of a decent size bankroll. The average football bettor wants to bet 200 a game on a 1000 bankroll - give him +120 on all plays - you know what happens - he's out after a month and is looking to get another dime to send down.

Now, giving +100 to a very select style of gamblers would be a real thorn in your ass - you'd just have to make sure you don't get too many of these guys. Now Pinnacle clearly has the sharpest numbers out there - I would imagine whatever side they are shading the game towards wins near 53% of time - this helps them because generally, the sophisticated bettor is not getting a great line which is another factor in winning long term.

Anyways, the right books could use -102 and win if done right - a book taking pure square action action could win at +100, i.e., my friend takes action and these idiots call in and ask him what side he likes - as in, they are placing a bet and are not sure what side to bet when they are calling in - their chance of winning over an extened period does not even register - it is ZERO and always will be ZERO even at +125.
