Sounds ok to me Charlie, Scott knows his stuff. Doesn't he still own the single~game assist record with 30 in one game with the Magic?

Charlie..

He was marginal player and at best marginal coach..Tough time to prospect for fresh new face..Skiles back in the club again..The NBA tough to hand a franchise at this point of the season to unproven commodity..He has experience and safe choice..

The Bulls are tough player mix now..The two young kids havent stepped up, and Rose miserable..Crawford a player..Pippen great in locker romm..on the floor???

Skiles..we wish you lots of GL..

HE WOULD NOT BE MY FIRST CHOICE, BUT AS A SEASON TIX HOLDER THAT TEAM NEEDS ALOT MORE THAN JUST A COACH. A GOOD PLACE TO START WOULD BE A HEART. OF THE COACHES AVALIBLE I THINK I WOULD HAVE RATHER HAD DOC RIVERS. WE WILL SEE, WE CAN ONLY GO UP FROM HERE.........LOL

Skiles was awesome. The guy was a midget, white and wasn't even fast.
You can't expect these Bulls to win with trade rumors going like this.

Guy had some HUGE games for Orlando......And that 30 assists record in one game will be very tough to break, especially as the years go on we get more and more ball~hogs~!

CHICAGO -- Scott Skiles is game if the Chicago Bulls are.

The former Phoenix Suns coach has had "some discussions" with Bulls general manager John Paxson about the team's coaching vacancy, Skiles' agent, Keith Glass, said Tuesday.

"Certainly we're interested -- Scott's interested. And I think they're interested," Glass said.

Paxson wasn't available for comment Tuesday. But Skiles is believed to be the front-runner to replace Bill Cartwright, who was fired Monday because of the team's dismal start.

The Bulls were expected to show dramatic improvements this year -- possibly even contending for the playoffs. But instead they started 4-10 and had lost five straight going into Tuesday night's game at Dallas. Despite the seemingly endless job to rebuild the Bulls, Glass said the job interests Skiles for several reasons.

"It's one of the great jobs in the NBA. I don't know anybody that wouldn't be interested," Glass said. "Plus there's so much young talent that's sprinkled with veterans. It's an opportunity to teach, to learn, to get better. It's a challenge.

"And if you watch Scott or know Scott, challenge has always kind of appealed to Scott."

Paxson has said he would like to name a new coach within a week. Other names that have been mentioned are former Orlando coach Doc Rivers, Mike Fratello and Chicago native Isiah Thomas. But Rivers is working as a TV analyst and has already said he's not interested in coaching this season.

Skiles, 39, was 116-79 as coach of the Suns from 1999-01, and was 5-8 in the playoffs. But there reportedly was friction between him and his players, and he stepped down in February 2002. He hasn't coached since.

"I'm happy because I think that the Bulls and, specifically, John understand who Scott is," Glass said. "Other people have missed that."

Skiles, then an assistant in Phoenix, also interviewed with the Bulls in 1998, when they were looking for a replacement for Phil Jackson. But he was a long shot because then-general manager Jerry Krause had Tim Floyd in mind.

I think this is going to turn out to be a terrible move. Many of the players have already shown concern with Styles disciplanarian style. I really think Isaiah was the right man for this job. Skiles quit in Phoenix because of clashing with players, and I think think the same thing will happen in Chicago.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls have decided to hire former Phoenix Suns coach Scott Skiles to replace the fired Bill Cartwright, an NBA source confirmed Wednesday night.

The source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, would not provide any further details.

Skiles' agent, Keith Glass, said, "We've not signed anything, but we've been having discussions. I'm not denying that."

Glass said he hoped a deal would be worked out soon.

"We want to do it and it seems they want to do it, so I hope that's what happens," he said.

According to media reports, the Bulls will introduce Skiles as their head coach Friday, but neither the Bulls nor Glass would confirm that.

Skiles would replace interim coach Pete Myers, who has been coaching the team since Cartwright was fired Monday after the Bulls, who were expected to show dramatic improvement this season, got off to a slow start.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity. It was a fun couple of days until Scott gets here," Myers said Wednesday night after the Bulls' 109-98 loss in San Antonio, their seventh straight defeat.

Skiles, 39, was 116-79 as coach of the Suns from 1999-01, and was 5-8 in the playoffs. Skiles had a reputation as a fiery competitor as both a player and then as a coach. Reportedly, there was friction between him and his players at Phoenix and Skiles quit in February 2002. He has not coached since.

Skiles has been considered for the Bulls' job before. In 1998, when he was an assistant in Phoenix, he interviewed with the Bulls, when they were looking for a replacement for Phil Jackson. But then-general manager Jerry Krause hired Tim Floyd.

Skiles played for Milwaukee, Indiana, Orlando, Washington and Philadelphia during a gritty 10-year NBA career. He still holds the NBA record for assists in a game with 30 for Orlando against Denver on Dec. 30, 1990. He averaged 11.1 points and 6.5 assists.

Skiles had a lot of personal problems back in the day. He really turned his life around and seems to have the personality that meshes well with players. I think he will do well.
