Paranoid in the same vein some casinos are
about card counters.a Good portion of the players
they kick out would have been profitable
customers for the book if they had more
patience

I got the same emails a long time ago. I tried to tell people about this place. I only won a couple of dimes also. They do not put up with any winning at all. I hope you get paid in less than three months. That would beat me...

Uh oh...

Now you did it!

book that I have ever dealt with that is still operating. Got the same BS e-mail. This is AFTER I told them about several bad lines they had on the board which I DID NOT hit. Calling in to make wagers would sometimes take more than five minutes! The biggest bunch of pussies in the business..and then they delayed my payout for over a week!!

I dont think the us gov is going to deport me to Malaysia to be prosecuted by these dumb clowns! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

My name is Diarmuid from Easybets. I suggest that you all look at the first six posts on the front page, and I will ask a rhetorical question?

Why do they all ask more or less the same thing about Sportsbooks.

I will state clearly though, no-one can be all things to all people. There is always a price to pay. Everyone wants to win, and its a dog eat dog world out there. No Sportsbook can be all things to all players. Cater for Wiseguys and all kinds of devious tactics will have to be employed. I will not deny that fact. Shaded lines, stalling, it happens almost everyhere. Its next to impossible to do this on the Internet though. It can be done on phone lines.

We pay once, the check arrives, everything is okay. You keep winning, and you request another payout. Then you request a payout that requires approval because its for a certain amount of money, or you have breached the point of analysis.

Then you love us as long as you are paid, and I use us to refer to all Sportsbooks in this sentence, not just Easybets. Everyday our staff analyses the record in clients account.....who is winning, who is losing, what are they specialising in.....Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats. If we are losing on a particular betting avenue, there has got to be a reason for that. Then it is fine tuned. Increase limits, decrease limits, ensure that it is being supervised properly, move on the action and move on the line moves....its a mixture of both, you cannot describe this in words, you have to experience it for yourself, and then you can be qualified to comment. Many posters state "Run a Sportsbook properly", but if given the opportunity and permission to borrow US$1 million in the morning at 7% interest, see how long they would survive.

Sometimes its somewhat draconian, no doubt, but myself and my colleagues get paid, our jobs are secure, and we take pride in our job. We may agree or disagree on what action to take to protect profitability, and you may disagree with the methods used, however, the end justifies the means.

When you praise the English Sportsbooks, and the Australian Books, let me be quite clear what they do. They pay, and they pay for a reason.

Its because they have high margin Sports to keep them going such as Lottery betting, Horseracing and soccer. They have diversified into many different markets. They offer markets that would be of no interest to you, but of interest to others. In other words....Coca Cola style marketting...."Think Global, Act Local"

We at Easybets endeavour to do that, where desirable. There is a fine balance to be struck between being fair to the player, and protecting profits. There is no right and wrong way of doing this as long as it works effectively pays overheads and a dividend to investors

I will now move on to each of my correspondents individually.

Dear SATAN.

First let me say that you should have let that Angel do the talking the other night when I felt like.....oh enough about that....that was fun...

You should have been paid already, contact me at curran@easybets.com or call me, Alan or Brendan at 1877.880.3983 and I will personally help sort this out. I really do hope that you did not have any funds in Aces Gold, Alladins Gold, Camelot, or any other of the fine wonderful Sportsbooks that have paid you before, or you may have beaten before. If this is the first time you have beaten a Sportsbook, congratulations. Having said that, on my side of the Atlantic, we don't give out about it. We sit down in the Pub on or day off, have a couple of Pints of Guinness (No Pancho Sanza....not Bottles), and think about which bookie to bet with next, and laugh about it, and perhaps buy a Pint for the guy who just lost his wages on the favourite at 3:15 at Leopardstown.

Anyway, Pancho Sanza, your comments are really appreciated. Perhaps we will come over to the States, we will drink enough bottles in our spare time that you may be able to open a Sportsbook after they have been returned for a deposit.

Baseballtotalszismythang....don't exaggerate, it took 1 minute at most to place a wager....the call was transferred to the head of department, or he/she told the clerk what to quote, and you were always free to play or pass....don't be a child and throw a tantrum because Daddy gave you two quid instead of a fiver. We saw you were sharp, so we had to counteract that.....Wow, you do hold grudges around here, especially after two years.

Finally Biancas Equine Escort. We will never know, but we tried that avenue before with the US Market, keep them playing, let them keep playing and see how long they last. Between each strategy, the one we employ has a higher yield. We have had experience and knowledge. Otherwise, why would we still be here. After all, 1% of $3 million is the same as 3% of $1 million, the question is which one is lower in terms of marketting costs, administration, staffing, rental space, salaries? I am sure you understand my meaning. It has to be managed and supervised. Its a slow climb to the top, but don't climb too high too fast....its a long way to the bottom.

Regards

Diarmuid

Let me just say, that if they are beating you to the # and you toss them ok.But if they are not and you toss them, you are nuts.Players do get hot. They also get cold.If they are not consistently getting the best of it # wise, you are throwing away good business.

Everytime these idiots come in here, they never reply to me. There is no excuse for slow pay.

Nice to see another person from Easybets back in here. Alan didn't do your company much good during his brief stay.

I asked him some very specific wquestions about Easybets' policies for restricting players, but he never even answered one question. He did some nifty bobbing and weaving, but never gave a single specific answer.

We all hope you can do better. Here are the questions Alan kept avoiding:

Alan, you still didn't answer ANY of my very specific questions, so here they are again. Saying it depends on the customer is not an answer. Everyone has a starting point and guidelines. If you can't be completely specific, then give us ranges.

1) How long does a customer have to play with Easybets before you do a "total analysis" to determine if you can beat them or not?

2) You say it depends on the customer, but what is the trigger for doing a "total analysis"?

3) How do you determine that a customer can't be beat?

4) How many plays does it take to get a good read on them?

5) Does it matter how much they are betting, or how much they have won, or is it the types of plays they make?

If it all depends on the customer, then give us a few examples.

6) What kind of limits do you put in place? Do you cut someone's limits by a third? in half? by 90%?

What is the typical, or most frequent, reduction? You already have pretty low limits. How much lower do they get cut?

As occured with me:

1. about a week
2. winning a bet
3. he won a bet
4. one
5. does not matter
6. 90%

I think if they answer any differently than they are lying!!!

Once you had me pegged as a "non-square", I was given the super-delay treatment. From the time your number was auto-dialed, until the time I receieved the final readback SEVERAL wagers took over 5 minutes. I know this because my phone has a digital display that times the length of each call. YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE OPERATION BLOW...Everyone that has ever bet more than $500 with you knows it.

All I have to do it copy and paste some of Eddie Hadeeds answers to your questions. In some cases I agree with him. Loose financial controls and greed cut both ways. Thats what brought Camelot, Aces Gold and others down. Proof is that we are not going to chase losses, if we lose to you, over a period of time, we may decide that its not beneficial to have you as a client.

Basically

We will not toss anybody for winning, and all I am going to say is that there is no point in talking to you. You are all correct in your own respective opinions, nobody is going to win this argument

Both Alan and I have said enough with regards to this issue. Samurai, very good observation, I don't think I will do much good either, maybe I could keep my mouth shut, but thats a cowards way out. I'll tell it as it is though, as much as I want to.

I'll give you all an example of how good people can be to bookmakers. I will refer to both Premiere League and Alladins Gold when I paste this.

ALLADIN'S GOLD (EDDIE HADEED) RESPONDS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following statement was just emailed to us. I am very curious to hear what some of you think about it. Personally, I don't believe Eddie has any clue about bookmaking and much of this is filled with excuses, not accountability!!!
_________________________________________________

It takes five years or more before the Shrink finally arrives at the revolutionary conclusion that Eddie Hadeed has no clue about bookmaking. It has taken this long, that a psychiatric analysis by a neutral third party should be made.

Eddie Hadeed has been running Sportsbooks since 1995......and how did he last that long if he did not have a clue about bookmaking. If Eddie has'nt a clue about bookmaking then the shrink is welcome to go over to Antigua, where noone was impressed with his antics, but were quite prepared to treat him like royalty once something nice was written. Mind you I might be getting mixed up with Jeff and Brian, but they are all pretty much the same anyway. Majorwager, Theprescription, ************, all watchpuppies..... You think we're assholes, you can be sure that in some cases the feeling is mutual.

For Eddie It did'nt work out this time. He hoped to recreate the Premiere League success story.

Where is Premiere League now?

They have gone through a Double Takeover....1st by Victor Chandler's Superbook (any comments about them now? Now its descendant in Costa Rica, and both the UK and US Government has doen everything in its power to decimate the Antiguan Sportsbook industry. The former eliminated betting tax, the US threatened trade sanctions, and the latter introduced more taxes because it could'nt balance its state budget as it got rid of import taxes on cars to win an election in 1999.

Why did the takeovers take place? They happened because the money was there at the time to allow them to take place. Now, money is tight within the industry, so the same takeover deals are'nt taking place. The only Sportsbook that seems to be succeeding in your eyes as "all things to all people" is Olympic, apart from the 20 cent Baseball line. Then you were all ready to praise Eddie Hadeed for 5 years, and now many of you are throwing that back. God forbid....what happens if Spiro goes the same way, and that is the worst case scenario.

Everyone mentions the postup money. Players get hot and cold....I will never deny that Judge Wapner. The postup money is yours, on our balance sheet it is a liability, our aim is to ensure that it declines and is replenished. Any Sportsbook that denies that is lying.

There have been plenty of people before waiting to denigrate my employers. There will be in future. The best thing to do as far as I am concerned is to say nothing and let facts and events speak for themselves. Your winnings are worth nothing when they are a number on the computer screen. When we decide to send you a check, thats our decision to say that that number on our balance sheet is a liability which has a greater than 75% chance of rising, and it is not in our interest to allow that. OR

I could, become a very honourable gentleman and allow my company to be beaten for $150K by one client over a year, allow it once, accept that, allow it twice (chase losses). Look at this from your perspective, in a normal business if you were losing money on a particular product line, you either have to cut the losses or streamline the product offering.

The same client mentions that 90% of the 50 or so books have had a late withdrawal. So 90% of the Sportsbooks in the industry are doing it wrong?

You want to make a profit, we want to make a profit, we will let you make a profit, but there have to be controls in place. We are in business to make a profit, and everything has to be kept in proportion.

Since you are all so willing to preach about running a Sportsbook properly, noone has responded to my challenge.

Borrow $1 million at 7% Per annum interest, run a Sportsbook, how much will you make after two years?

You may be slightly overcapitalised here, but if it is to be done right, you may as well invest. Especially when Sportsbooks have a God given right to donate to Baseballtotalzismythangs Bank balance, and they don't know his real name when they first open.

This business is not all that different from a poker game. Its best to keep your mouth shut, and that goes for both sides of the divide between bettor and bookmaker. Honesty is a wonderful aspiration until greed arrives. Lets face it guys.....greed is the prime motivation for gambling. We'd love to do or say the right thing, but then the cards are too plain to see.

a generalised statement than a specific critique;
I don't have an account there. If the
risk/reward ratio has played out in the manner
you describe then of course i understand it.
Although wouldn't it be less hassle all around
to just ban people than using some of the stalling/delay tactics that are often employed
