I sort of inquired about this in my thread yesterday regarding wiseguys and agents. The line movement or "steam" is a result of known sharp players getting down on a game yea? If syndicates or wiseguys, are continually kicked out by the bookies then how does steam keep occuring if wiseguys are not welcome? You will probably respond some books like Olympic, Grande, and Pinnacle won't kick wiseguys out..Ok fair enough but surely these books must have some use for these players...You would think they would follow the plays. But if they are one of the few books who welcome that type of action, the how is there any books left to get down on that game? If they bet the sydicate stuff at other books, won't the books cut them off just as they did all the other wiseguys? Am I making any sense? Again, just as I mentioned in the other thread, the pros would have to keeping bearding in new players which would again be shown the door and on and on.
Shrink, yea but when the screen goes black orginially then that is due to the syndicates no? I understand people may follow them, but I was curious that If say Billy Walters is kicked out of a book then ok he brings in a beard, but surely they can't find new beards every week, so how do they continue to "get down" on their games. And this brings up another issue, If they find a way to bring in new beards every week, then how are they guaranteed to get the amount they are after. If I had a multi million dollar bank roll and Billy Walters gives me a play and he wants to get down 20dimes, whats to prevent me from saying I could only get down 10 Billy, or are the beards responsible for guaranteeing a specific amount?

Theoretically, you can probably tell BW that you only got down 10 dimes when you really got down 20, but my hunch is that sooner or later, he would find out...
Also, beards are very interchangable...

yea fine you get put in his order for him, but theres alot of other elements involved no? Gotta make sure the book pays out..Gotta confirm exacly how much you got down before the game starts..or else you can wait to see the outcome...then the whole money transfering think...you would have to bankroll the beard and have to put your money in his Name if its post up...money laudering etc..its obviously worth it but a big headache and stress
when money is involved people find ways to get around everything. by the time you figure out one way they are getting you, they are already 2 steps ahead.
look at the current steriod contraversy they are now looking for that chemical in piss tests. i'm sure that some chemist has already come up with another one that will go under the radar.
or look at drug trafficing the US govt has spent billions of dollars to stop the flow and you still can get drugs anywhere in america

If I expressed too many thought I understand. These questions still haven't been specifcially addressed...Basically...Put it like this.. who the heck is taking these bets on say in College BBall today Marist over Coastal Carolina..If these wiseguys bet the limit at a book surely the would get shown the door no? Mdorsey you make some very valid points here. Any book that is well run has a daily report that provides them with the information pertaining to winning players for that day and their bets in relation to the closing line. If these books deem that a person is continualy betting games at 4 that close at 6, he is a steam player, and 9 out of 10 times will be asked to play somewhere else. if the book decides not to kick him out, they may lower his limits to a point where that individual says f..k you, i am out of here. The other scenario is one where the book takes the bets, and then goes out and bets 5x the amount for themselves, kind of like Pinnacle. Your point about a middle of the road absorbing steam for a long time without engaging in one of the three scenarious is accurate in that it won't happen. The last and final scenario that most people don't realize is the one where Billy Walters finds "whales" who can bet 100k with their bookies as long as the game isn't steam. well in this case, walters simply gets down via the "whale", and the don best screen never moves. In this situation, the "whale" is the steam without anyone knowing it. I hope this clears things up for you alittle bit.
