operated in a country that supposedly had the highest regulation and scrutiny--that being the home of Pinnacle, Curacau. Let's see, in a country with some of the highest regulation, they made off with over 10 million dollars of player' money. What you people who propose a boycott of costa rican books are doing is illustrating your ignorance of the off-shore industry along with your overall ignorance of how the "real world works".
You sadly naiive individuals should attempt to understand that like Enron, like Aces gold, or even like Blue Marlin, you will not be safe in any scenario if you are dealing with a company that has no intention of DOING THE RIGHT THING. Talk to any large investor that has flourished, and he will tell you that regulation and contracts mean ZERO if the person you are collaborating with wants to fuvk you. All you have to do is look at books like jazz, rio, cascade, Cris, etc. etc. that have run into problems in the past and you see how they did whatever it took to pay off their customers and do the RIGHT THING to know that their actions are what is REALLY important. THEY WANTED TO DO THE RIGHT THING. And when they ran into problems, they proved that they all DID the right thing and are stronger today for it.
What everyone needs to remember is that working with sportsbooks that have strong regulation sounds great, but as ACES GOLD proved, it really means nothing. Simply look into the track record of the company, see how quickly they pay, look for REAL warning signs, (such as the completely ridiculous lines that ACES GOLD was using for a month prior to their demise), and keep reasonable balances with each sportsbook so that God forbid if they did experience a bankruptcy for whatever reason that you are not wiped out and out of the game. Making a blanket statement to boycott the off-shore industry or ALL Costa rican books is extremely myopic. Like anywhere else, there are mostly good books with a few bad ones everywhere. It all comes down to the character of the company and the individuals who run it. In business, as I stated before, if someone REALLY wants to fuvk you, they are going to do it with or without regulation. Good luck to all!

Weekendalki, you make some very strong points, but name calling and demeaning people does no good for anyone. These people are very angry and looking to strike back is all.

#1 you are right. Demeaning and name calling is out of line. I just feel very passionate about it, and I should have been a little more more polite. Your point is well taken. I am glad you appreciate some of the points in the post.

Regualtion make alot of companies do the right thing. The country with the most stringent of regulations is Australia and they showed it when Betworks closed. Everybody got their balance back.

Regulation in a third world country is an oxymoron. BTW, those guys at Enron will be spending time with Bubba.

The world would be a whole lot better if everyone

Truthteller, if the Aces Gold scumbag was operating in a country like Curacao with regulations, why hasn't he been picked up by interpol? Just wondering if you or anyone else knows?

forgi LOL ...

It's not bad advice but maybe a little amendment is in order.

"If you don't know who the good books are, don't choose one in Costa Rica."

If you have to throw a dart, and trust me most non-forum beginners use the dart method, throw it at any other country. Can anybody even name a shaky book in Australia or Curacao(well, ok, I could name one)?

australia [OR] curacao...naaaaah...

in terms of regulation the only country near australia is austria...

austrian books have to deal with other problems... call em taxes..resulting in 40c 50c 60c lines... but they are safe as hell...

i started that thread and nobody more than me wants to see good quality costa rican books survive bnt the current situation is not acceptable and if a boycott is what it takes than so be it right now its each man for himself down there facts are facts a book touted on forums right next on a list with holly wood bhb cascade rio ect stole their depositers money nothing said on these sites (wherelese would one research) gave any hint that bm wasn't as solid as those other books
is it that absurd to beleive that its just a matter of when not if it happens again thats why its up to the good cr books to fix it now
and redeem this industry --- all forum books should offer some degree of protection in my plan if other books in CR feel that another book isn't stable enough to warrent such protection then speak up but right now you all are signing your own execution unless the
plan isn;t really to be around for the long haul anyway something that franky has crossed my mind

WEEKEND ALKI,

Thank you for bring up another solid topic...

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD...

I believe you should not judge a human being by their outside alone, because the inside is much more important...

Same holds true for sports books...

It's not the LOCATION that makes your money safe in this jungle we refer to as offshore sports betting ...

Rather, it's who is on the "INSIDE" that reall counts. Therefore, get to know exactly WHO you are dealing with, and if you are not so sure, ask around on this forum and our posters will tell you...

Shrink, I hate burst your bubble but when it comes to $$$ you would be surprised how many people insides change.

Even the nicest and most honest people that I knew changed for the worse when $$$ were involved.

truthteller,

I agree with you that the acquisition of some serious coin has changed some people that I know well...

However, it doesn't mean that these wealthy men would ever stiff anyone...

I believe there is a code of honor that the elite bookies and gamblers follow which is to honor the bet!

No questions asked!

This is where the harm is done that bothers me most. There are so many newbies who see a banner somewhere around the net and sign-up so unknowingly. Most anyone who has a 6 month stint under there belt here will get some assistance(info) and need to be accountable for their actions, but the newbies do not know and blindly walk into bad situations.

sure a "6 month newbie" will get some help... BUT... if you're honest... where did this newbie post up if he is a newbie of the last 6 months? noooo this blue fish book is not what i mean... can you say GA? can you say BHB? sure every question "where should i sign up" is honestly answered with "take pinnacle so you won't be wrong"...

but with all the GA/BHB namedroppingbonusofferingmoneyinsucking involved in ALL this forums... do you really think a new one will sign up with "pinnacle is solid" if he can put up his dime and get another 200 into his balance at GA?

forgi, soccer bettor so no money at GA/BHB/BM

forgi,

Good chance of that.

I cannot argue anything about the GA situation. It happened and I am deeply sorry for that. I've made my apology to everyone for trusting in Mike Silver.(A lesson that I learned from)

I got 4 suggestions.

1. pinnaclesports

2. olympic sports

3. wwts

4. Never send more money to ANY shop which will cause you dire despair and financial woes if you awake and it has been stolen from you. There are NO guarantees. (Most newbies who do not read here never realize this)

No one will convince me that an offshore bettor is better off without this forum than with. There is to much info here regarding wagering and offshore gambling.

i give you 90% for your posting general...and i mean 90%.

but there might be the 10% that don't go through an agent, don't hear from a friend, dont hear from anyone but simply click on a betonsports or sia banner, lose $100 a week and be happy... and this squarest of the squarest will defintly get a disadvantage if they have a quick look at the forums and see the "20% 5***** bonus" offers...

You point is valid as well. The newbie will be drawn into that BIG 20% sign for sure if they just gander in and shoot for a book. We all need to be more aware of this. I think there were many who had thoughts about GA being a bad apple but really never said anything. In the future I am sure we will see more opinions shared on issues that seem a little strange.
