Are you the type that feels like everytime you wager its the game "after the teams hot streak" or "the refs are killing me" or "the team is always off the night I take them" or how bout when you take the big favorite and they "lay the egg" is that you ?

Does anyone feel they are a lucky gambler? In sports the old saying , "its not luck its skill" and
"good teams create their own breaks" is that you?

Are you Lucky or just plain Unlucky when it comes to gambling?

I think I am Lucky.
I think it was our friend Reno who said luck was preperation meeting opportunity. Very wise and applicable in my everyday life as well as gambling. Isn't it amazing how the same people are always "lucky".

Very profitable but very UNLUCKY.......mainly in the VIDEO POKER TRENCHES. Should be up way way more than I am considering the hours that I have put in.

i have made money consistently over many years but would consider myself to be very unlucky.

As the main sport i bet on is Uk horse racing i have a definition of Unlucky and lucky. Given tight finishes in horse races (ones that are decided by a head or less - 2 horses) i would have thought a person who is lucky wins more than 50% of his tiht finishes in a season. My average is about 28% so i feel justified in saying I am extemely unlucky and especially so for the big money bets.

Interesting how many measure their luck based on close results, which may indeed be the way to look at it!

Personally I measure it based on what I expect to be ahead and what I actually am! Like even beating all these totals on the NBA by big margins these days, I still consider myself lucky, as I simply expected to win less of them.

Like my soccer coach used to say "you have to be good to be lucky, and you have to be lucky to be good."

Jesus - what sort of bullshit is that? Good & Lucky are two different things. You can be good and be unlucky, good and lucky, bad and lucky and bad and unlucky! Another bullshit saying from people who thinks they are wiser than wise!

Calm down first of all you need to relax take a pill or something, and i never said this my soccer coach did, which is 55 take what you want from this. Read Randyrohms post i think this will make more sense to you, luck is preparation meeting opportunity if you're not good then you're not lucky period.

Most people tend to consider thereselves unlucky because they remember there bad beats more. Someone I respect a LOT told me that I am a very good handicapper (I agree

), but even great handicappers can have bad breaks that mess them up. Some good luck is needed to be a successfull gambler.

Quote - luck is preparation meeting opportunity - more bull**** - luck is luck.

Skill, discipline, preparation and good analytic skills are very different and do not guarantee good luck but merely make you a good bettor - period. Stop all these stupid anecdotes.

My definition of lucky is not perfect but relates to really tight calls which when it comes that close is a matter of luck. For example - in a horse race when the winning distance is a head or less, for a basketball game when the spread is within 1 or 2.

In these circumstances when your bet falls into these categories I would define lucky as when you win more than 50% of these tight calls.

This situation happens to us all regardless of how good we are or how much we make or lose - it is simply scenarios after all the calculations have been done the final result comes down an almost random event - like a head bobbing finish that could go either way.

People who bet on more events obviously have more of these scenarios and sometimes falsely feel they are unlucky as they only remember the bad breaks but to decide whether they are unlucky or not they should record all such events over a period of a year or more then decide.

I hope you're happy now and will stop spewing out old lines that sports commentators use.
