Interesting - now that kind of information would actually have been useful if it had arrived, as it would have been for GA, BEFORE they had tanked. What use is this now?

What does this all mean. Just another paid advertiser who didn't have funds to book, or walked off with funds to live off.Why don't you refund there ad fee's to help get back some of the players funds. I just fell down laughing readng this post....like that would ever happen....You should look closely at your list and drop a few. I can guarantee you more than one is barely treading water. Oh my god i fell down laughing again...Like you don't know which ones they are......STEP UP FOR ONCE AND PROTECT YOUR POSTERS ON THIS SITE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY. I AM ABOUT TO PUT EVERYONE'S BUSINESS IN THE STREET. IF I KNOW, YOU MUST KNOW ALSO. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I KNOW YOU KNOW.

Am I missing something? They still made money in September and October, or did overhead eat up all of those profits.

JAZZ,

No sports book ever sends out this info until they are in deep shit...

Shrink, wouldn't it be a grand thing if the Rx would require monthly financial disclosures such as these during the length of an advertising contract? In other words, for a book advertising here to agree to be independently audited to ensure the readers at this forum are not duped into sending hard-earned post-up money to a book on the verge of collapse?

Actually Jazz, your suggestion is a very interesting one. I can see a problem with it though. If the books give false information then it would make matters even worse because of the false sense of security it would create. If they are honest and not doing well, it would cause a flood of people to request withdrawls which would immediately escalate the situation.

I'm guessing that books in trouble would not give honest reports if they are trying to hang on. They couldn't afford to.

David: good point. Thank you for making it. Another point, not about the Rx but anyone, would be that a book could also make it 'easy' for a good report to be made.

Which brings me to another subject which books abhor: regulation. If we were taking about books in regulated countries like Australia or the UK, this wouldn't be an issue. But we're not - we're talking about books in areas that are NOT really regulated, in which other books have ALREADY failed and stiffed (or potentially will stiff) their customers without any legal ramifications whatsoever ('non-legal' ramfications notwithstanding). These are the GREY books, and those are the ones I'm referring to here. My point is that there simply is no bloody way in this life that I will 'trust' anything I hear or read on this site or ANY other site about a book in this classification, because if what you read is bullshit then you will be screwed. If there is no guarantee from a site for an un-regulated book, then anything that site posts is merely fiction, enjoyable though it may be to read.

The books don't like these comments? Fine - then let them accept regulation and binding arbitration on disputes from a neutral 3rd party, and put post-up funds in escrow. Otherwise, move to a regulated country and set up shop.

Shrink,

What would you say is the % of sharps vs squares among Blue Marlin's clientele?

Any idea what is owed to some of the big boys on the list?

Yep
I'm pretty sick of books taking it personal when you question them as if to say "how dare you I know the shrink" or "the major!"

There are 3 or 4 sites established enough that they can enforce whatever the hell you/they want. I've been saying forever that if they instituted a requirement it would just validate the list and make it more desirable to be on. You have the oppurtunity to set a standard.

Holding about 10 % in November with about 300K of NEW money (not to mention the account balances from older accounts)and these guys are broke?
icon_eek.gif

How the hell can they go broke in the middle of their best month?

Give me a break, something smells rotten here.
icon_mad.gif

And so much for getting killed in football, average out Sept to Nov and they have a positive hold.

Good point, Pancho - and I thought it was my sneakers stinking up the office - I'd LOVE to see what the explanation is here from BM, saying they were having "a particularly brutal football season" and yet sent the Shrink an accounting which showed a positive hold as Pancho said thru November.

Exactly how much bullshit can the average gambler be forced to eat and still say it tastes like steak?

Jazz, the hold + & -'s are actually reversed....
(+ means players win)

I thought the same thing

My bad.

Looks like they cleaned up on March Madness. They should have made a ton and had it in reserve since we know that tons of money is bet on the NCAA tourney.

And they were still positive after two months of this football season.

And how can they get hammered so bad in november?

Last weekend was a bookies dream with all those upsets. Dogs and unders got the money this weekend as well.

I still dont buy it. Average out the last 12 months, they are still up slightly even with this current month.

Ahhh ... my bad, TTinCo.

Interesting. Well, then of course this would then raise the issue as others have as to WHERE THE FVCK was this book's reserves after '8 years' to weather a rainy day?

G'nite, time to recharge my batteries and lay in some fresh stogies, I have a feeling I'll be needing a LOT of them soon.

Pancho:

It doesn't add up.. The last 6 weeks should have been the best of the year.

Maybe there's more to the story than meets the eye, maybe not...

I don't think any bailout coming here for public or sharps.

I spoke with Austin about two weeks ago and he told me the Saturdays college football(November 1) was one of the best days ever for GRANDE and those guys have been around since 1989.

In the OGD chat, Lenny also said that Cascade cleaned up the last 3 weeks in foots.

I know my local cleaned up 2 weeks ago in the NFL (the weekend where Tampa lost to Carolina, Seattle lost to washington, Giants lost to atlanta, Indy lost to Jacksonville, Minny lost to San Diego)

No way in hell a square joint like Blue Marlin didn't clean up that day.

To top it off, The dog and under got the money that Monday night, Philly over G Bay.

BM has a much, much bigger sharp credit business than people realize.

The post up stuff didn't kill 'em.
