I'm sure this has been raised before, but what's the best way to get a cheap package for vegas? Looking for flight & hotel. I live in Canada, but can fly out of Detroit.

I've found that rather than a package deal, it's almost always less expensive to book hotel and airfare separately. It takes a bit more time/effort, but the savings for me are typically quite substantial.

For hotel prices, you can try one of the travel websites such as Tripreservations.com (there are many others), then compare the rates offered with the specific hotel websites themselves...it's often less expensive.

For airfare, you can do a similar search, although I always find the airline websites themselves to have the best airfare.

From Detroit I found Delta at US$242 and Spirit (nonstop) at US$262 compared with CAN$477 out of Toronto using United for December 16/23.

I agree its much cheaper to do air and hotel separately and that tripreservations.com has the best online rates for hotels.

depending on what kind of player you are, a free room could be a possibility. you are not going to earn a room only playing sports but if you play table games or machines at a decent rate, a room comp is doable. each property requires a different level of play with the higher end places obviously requiring a higher average bet. as far as the airfare is concerned, i always fly america west because they fly nonstop from columbus to vegas. once i get a date in my head, i check their website two or three times a week and invariably, they'll run a special that allows me to fly out and back nonstop for around $200. when in vegas one of the worst things you can do is not ask for comps. what does it hurt to be turned down. have fun
