Site outage this weekend, why.

This weekend, as you've all noted, the site was out. Most of Saturday, all of Sunday, and most of today. This site was under attack by a Distributed Denial Of Service attack. This is not the first DDOS attack on this site, but it was by far the largest. Just FYI, DDOS attacks have taken down yahoo, google, Microsoft and now TheRX. We, Infopop, are working in concert with our upstream providers, and with the TheRX management to help mitigate the effects of a DDOS attack in the future. The forums will again be down for a spell this evening so that our upstreams can address some network issues.

PS: Infopop almost NEVER makes statements on client forums hosted on their servers, so apparently that's going to be a fake, too.

I have no idea if it's true or not BUT.....

If Infopop "almost" never makes statements on clients' forums couldn't this be one of the times that they do?

You folks are childish. Who really cares why the forum was down unless you; 1)work here or 2)own the site.

On a distant usenet server, long long ago, the force of the internet thrived because shared solutions to common problems.

So, do ya think we can share a little info about the exact details of the attacks, what you will do to prevent them in the future.

It sure would be nice to learn a little from your misfortune. I know its not the mentality of this industry, but it sure would be nice.

I have been working my very hard with Infopop to get this forum back as fast as possible...

Infopop didn't have to come on here to address the situation and I personally find it embarrassing that someone on our site would question their identity

Unfortunately, the information you are seeking to learn can be used against us by the perpetrators...

They have already shut down dozens of sports books and we are the ONLY gambling portal they have decided to target at this time...

However, we would be willing to try and assist other victims who contact us privately in stopping these bastards...

I quess you did not read my whole post. I said I believed that Dave did actually represent InfoPop. I qouted Butch, who is banned here, but you allow to post here as a ghost, which is your porblem. Fine with me, I can see where this is not the Forum for me. Good luck in the future.

Thanks for explaining, and sharing info often ends up hurting you. But once you have everything locked down good and tight, please keep with the attitude to help others who fall victim to that vandalism. Good to see you back, and best of luck.
