For some reason I never consider Boggs being that great , Yes he was an incredible hitter, I dunno maybe its the lack of pop...But he was quite versatile off the field as well.

Just to clarify, when you say "athlete" in this sense, you just mean anyone having played pro/college or major sports, not necessarily the actual physical talent?

I have to go with Yaz as my favorite Redsox player, without a doubt Bird for the Celtics, and I can't for the life of me think of a single Patriot who qualifies as an "alltime" great.

I always liked watching Boggs eat that fried chicken. Incredible eye for the strike zone.

Ted Williams had the best eye in sports. Hands down.

They said he could see the stiching on the ball as it was coming towards him.

Has to be Ted Williams. Best hitter of all time. Lost over 4 years of his career to WWII and the Korean War.

Rounding out the top 10 in no particular order:

Bobby Orr
Phil Esposito
Carl Yazstremski
Jim Rice
Larry Bird
Bill Russell
John Havlicek
Kevin McHale
John Hannah
