If you could start the next great Web site, what would it be?

This is a question I have been wrestling with for quite some time, and I thought I would open it up to the creative bunch that frequents the place here.

What hasn't been done, that should have been done? What has been done, that sucks and could be done better? What is so far out there that you think could work?

I am obviously fishing. There is nothing proprietary about this thread, I am just dreaming as the weather gets colder upNorth. Post nothing that you hope to do on your own, because I am antsy to retire in 10 years...

Call it a brainstorm thread of sorts...thanks for any opinions.

Ebay, Monopoly
Napster, saturated
any new great idea would be hugely lucrative. I don't happen to be smart enough to come up with that multi million dollar idea. But EYO, you are right, there has to be something out there that hasn't been tapped. I just don't know what it is. I was thinking of a website that has all of the menus on it from the best restarants from each town, and having a service that delivers it to your home quickly. I had some positive feedback on it, but it never got off the ground. There has to be something out there that hasn't been done. I am going to smoke a J and see if I get some inspiration. I am guessing that the only thing the J will elicit will be a phone call to Domino's however. Oh well.

It would be a website with a LIE DETECTOR system on it.

So guys like roberto and mike can tell us each side of the story and we could know who was spining and who was not.

That would end allot of bullshit.

So there you have it another FREE idea.

This truth telling site can be used ofr many things and each surfer can be hooked up through their UCB port.

Dating sites can use it to make sure that cute babe in the photo or video screen is the real thing.

Thanks, Weekend. You are obviously of the same wavelength...looking for that great idea. Constructive post with planning and thought. You have a very nice idea, althout the local ramifications present a problem. I am not going to sit here and poke holes in someone's idea...this is a brainstorm thread...not one to rip others and say "what cannot be." Hell, it's probably not one that anyone will dink with...but I thought I would give the bretheren a chance to toss out ideas. Thanks for your post.

Here's the best part of my plan. With the $$$ I expect to get from my site I'm going to by a farm in Iowa. The gov't pays subsidies to farmers to NOT plant crops. I'm going to not plant corn the first year. I figure to start out small, mabey not plant 40-50 acres and build up to mabey 100's of acres, if things go good. I may even not plant hay or mabey not plant oats. I'll have to talk to the locals to see the best crops not to plant. Anyways that's the long range goal of my site www.scottbest.com

I think many have tried to take down Ticketmaster with little success. They were all over a great idea for making money, and continue to ruin everything for everyone that likes to go to an event.

The derivative idea is an interesting one, although not sure it would get enough traffic. perhaps it would, and that is a unique idea, for sure. Very helpful to those that play, for sure.
