Are these books more safe, because of their gov't affiliation??

Any of these cater to americans?

a few do cater for the US markets, sometimes more so than the US books...I would recommend Stan James, Sportingbet and Bet365 for starters you aint gonna get safer than those outfits!

Good books everywhere. I do not put much faith in government help anywhere though.

Husker83, if you can, go only with government regulated books like in Australia.

Others like General will tell you it may not matter that's because most the RX's advertisers are in these 3rd world unregulated countries.

IT DOES MATTER. Your money in books operating in a regulated environment is much safer than books in CR or some other corrupt country.

"gov't affiliation"

They are not affiliated with the gov't in the sense that they have financial banking.

They are only gov't regulated, big difference.

Never crossed my mind that way truthteller. I thought to myself how many times do I see posters state that they recieved help from any government agencies in pay disputes. I do not see many. Could have missed them I suppose. If so my apologies, but your reason for my comment was very wrong. Good books everywhere.

Of course they are safer,

but do not think for a second no british or aussie book has ever stiffed anyone.

or for that matter that if one goes out, that it will be an easy thing to collect from a bankrupt company thousands of miles away.

General,

You hardly see them because there are hardly any disputes when it comes to paying especially with books in Australia.

I remember a poster a while back having a dispute with Canbet and received a very long letter from the Australian government. I don't recall the outcome however.

General if you have ever been to CR and see how things operate here, you wouldn't send money to anyone unless you knew them personally.

Just last week, my friend nearly lost over $500,000 mortgage on his property because the buyer bribed someone in the registry a $1000 to mark it as paid.

I had funds in a UK book (i.e. UK goverment regulated). The book folded and I lost my funds that I had at the book. The book being UK government regulated didn't help me one jot.

I am on a list of creditors but the liquidators have told me there is no chance of me re-claiming anything due to the low level of assests (as assessed by them).

Basically the assests will just be kept by the liquidator as their costs (regardless of the degree of assets IMO).

Thanks for sharing jackdaw. I think regulation is a bit misleading. If a book paid even $1 million for a license, would they really do it if they thought they may go to jail for stiffing someone?

What Auzzie book have ever stiffed anyone? Thanks.

Samurai.. Canbet is still listed on the Australian stock-exchange.. It is true however, that they have moved to the UK now, and got some british jackass as head guy.. And you clearly can see that, as they they gone from beeing an "must-have" out, to nothing special.. For pucks that is..

husker83 - Antigua requires a minimum $250,000.00 players escrow account. And they enforce it.

Panama now requires a bond. But I'm not sure how it works over there as it's still a new thing but a positive step in the right direction.

It's funny how the UK and Aussie books don't have anything like the above. As William Hill had been in business since 1934 and has been sold several times.

IAS Bet and BetAustralia are the best aussie books, Mark Reads company runs them. Centrebet is next in line. They recently got sold to another strong company.
