Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am relatively new to offshore (about 1 yr). Previously, dealt just with bookies. But, is WU really unsafe to send/receive money? I am just confused because I have an acct at eurosport, have no problems, quick payouts, but I am reading how people are now leaving because WU is now their only payment method. I am leaning toward leaving ONLY because everyone else who knows this business better than me is leaving (ie:Madcapper) and I figure they know more than me. I actually prefer WU because it it is quick. But maybe I am just naive.

WU is generally enforcing greater and greater know your customer rules. Because most of the WU clerks are minimum wage, purple haired, stud in the tongue kids alot of their invasive questions rub people the wrong way.

My last experience with WU I got called an "asshole" by the clerk because I refused to answer the "what is your livlihood" question on the form they insisted I complete before giving me my money

If you're willing to put up with invasive questions and a rotten attitude by someone a third of your age, WU is for you, otherwise there are other options out there

I think you have to look at it like this...

Would Western Union turn over info on you if the US govt asked? I think yes.

Would the IRS get you if they wanted to anyhow? I think yes.

If we want to play, may as well be ready to pay. The vast majority of us are little fish to the IRS though and will be fine.

WU is safe as far as your money, but it is getting harder as they are asking for to much info these days on large transfers, leaving the dreaded trail.
