I am an avid golfer and am contemplating a move to "Golf Heaven" - Florida. I am also considering Southern Nevada, another great golf climate, but much more expensive. The casinos are also much tougher on good players in NV than anywhere else, except poker of course.

My question is - Are there many good $10-20 limit & higher poker games in Florida?

How many boats/casinos are there in your area ?

Do they have large Indian Reservation casinos ?

Which area do you think has the highest concentration of casino/boat gambling in Florida ?

There is at least 1 boat out of Ft. Lauderdale. It is a part of the Sun Cruz Casino line. They also leave from Key West and also from the northern keys. In between, Lauderdale and Miami there is a small Indian casino. Its the casino advertised in left field of the Marlins games-(musco-something). Cant help with the poker games...

South Florida does have a lot of gaming options. There are 2 casino boats, Sun Cruz line runs out of Davie and a new line just opened called San Torpez. The Miccosukee have a very nice reservation in Miami with a full line-up of gaming options, including poker. Bingo is freely available. Poker rooms are rare. Video slots (cherry master)are now all over the place because they pay you in gift ceritificates to well known stores instead of cash. Dog racing and Jai-Alai are in Davie as well.

Property here is more expensive than Nevada without question.

That is my info on South Florida gaming, hope it helps.

There are very limited gaming possibilites - they reservations here are not like Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun - they have Poker but it is for peanuts and I am sure the boats want you to play table games probably do not even offer Poker.

Property values in South Florida are a big joke - 500k will get you a dive or average house.

I don't know but I would imagine it's "old money" in Florida and you have to be in the group to be invited to those private juicy poker games.

This "problem" is non-existent in Las Vegas.

Spare yourself - during the winter the blueheads take over the golfcourses and the green fees double. The Indian casino poker games have a heavy rake and are complete dumps. Traffic is horrible and Uncle Butternuts is here. I also live out west part of the time thank God because South Florida blows.

theres some live club-house games, and the boats are so-so, the indian casinos are pointless for poker, unless you enjoy 50 cent-$1.00 games

Looks like there are at least 3 South Florida guys here already. I am sure once winter rolls in up North you can get a few more takers for a New Years bash in the Keys.

Well there are a couple months to work out the details and I would be interested to see some of the other posters since it would be only a short drive for me.
