SAN DIEGO DOWN 26-10, NEEDS 2 TD'S TO TIE, WITH 2 PT CONVERSIONS..

ITS 4TH AND 10, AND THEY PUNT?

THERE IS STILL OVER 2 MINUTES LEFT, U HAVE TIMOUTS....WHY PUNT?

EVEN IF U DONT MAKE IT....MIAMI WONT TRY TO SCORE, EVEN IF THEY DO, IS IT BETTER IN THE NFL TO LOSE 26-10, RATHER THAN 33-10....ARE THEY TRYING TO IMPRESS THE BCS?

I JUST DONT GET IT....

WHY GIVE UP, WITH OVER 2 MINUTES, AND DOWN 2 SCORES?

I agree. And on top of it, after they punt, they use all their time outs when Miami got the ball. Does that make any sense???

U CANT WIN IF U PUNT, SO WHY NOT GO FOR IT...EVEN IF IT WAS 4TH AND 50....

I AM JUST WONDERING, IT MADE NO SENSE......

It doesn't matter if it's 4th and 99. You have no chance to win if you don't go, you're out of time.

I guess I could understand if this was pony league....

ps - I had the under but it was still the loser thing to do

well Ihate to defend Shottendouche, but I guess he was hoping to stop them on the next drive, get the ball back, score, onside kick, score again, in 2 minutes, which is doable, but I don't know where were they on the field? if they miss 4th adn 24 which is highly probable Miami could have scored again easily I assume and then the game is over for real. Whoah stop the presses, they were at the 50?! wtf if Marty was planning on stopping them on their next posession why not take the chance then stop them near the 50, o.k. so then Miami could pin them back in their territory with a punt and then you've got to pray that Breese finds it in himself to be John Elway, which isn't going to happen either way, should have just thrown in the white flag and gone home.

This game was over whether they made the 4th and 23 or not so its a no brainer, YOU GO FOR IT! Even if you miss Miami isn't going to score anymore!

Keith,
If you know football which I hope you do, then tell me a good reason to punt under those circumstances?? If you gave up on the game, why call timeouts and on 3rd and 5, let Miami run straight up the middle for 6 yards!lol, called time outs to make it look good then straight up the gut with no time outs left and make the first down, lol! It probably won't happen but I hope the Colt's spank them next week!!

I laughed when I saw Marty make that call - good man but I am SOOOOO glad Marty got booted from KC. The man's idea of a good game plan is to run the ball up the middle when you're trailing by 21 points, or complete short passes which cannot get a first down, in order to run the clock down, which is exactly what he continued to do in the 3rd quarter as shown by these excerpts. Btw, how many times did either team go long in this game, or even TRY??? God, what a boring game that was

My opinion was and is that there was no way they could move the ball and they punted to pin Miami deep hoping to keep the better field position. Face it, SD had zero chance of coming back in this game. How many try's did they blow inside the 20 and get nothing. I just thought that it was a totally unmakable down so punt and hope for the best.
Everyone has there own opinion-that is just mine.

Keith,
Good thought, and I thought it was good they called 2 timeouts on 1st & 2nd down but to let Miami run up the middle on a 3rd and 5 letting them gain 6 when you KNOW they are running the ball seems a little funny I think, again its my opinion!
