In a deal that will help to consolidate its position as a leading supplier of gaming systems, Boss Media has sold its well-known site, Casino.com for a cool $5.5 million to an unnamed company.

The move was designed to help Boss Media focus harder on the ‘core business’. Peter Bertilsson, CEO of Boss Media, says: 'This is part of our overall strategy to focus on developing the best gambling platform in the world. It is hard to have a double interest with both B2C and B2B business. Therefore we are very happy to have found a so strong and committed partner to sell our highly valuable assets to.'

The buying company, which purchases the rights to the brand and the domain name of Casino.com, is described as one of the oldest betting companies on the Internet. The company began in 1985 as a telephone-betting operator, and within ten years it was one of the first betting companies on the Web.

“This customer has a large, loyal customer base and expert knowledge. This deal is exactly in keeping with our strategy of selling to established customers,” says a satisfied Robert Skogh, head of marketing and sales at Boss Media.

The company has asked to remain anonymous for the time being for 'reasons of competition'.

Makes it sound like a sportsbook bought them. However, I don't know that any book would pay that much for a domain name.

what I want to know is who are the dipshits out there that make sites with names like this so valueble.

I mean people who would try www.auction.com before finding ebay through google. Or www.books.com if they want to buy a book. This is such a strange phenemenon of the web.

Do these people drive down the street passing Safeways and Krogers until they find a Grocery Store called "Food Store"?
