The last four runnings of the Breeders Cup in California has been brutal to the east shippers and Euro invaders.
Home court advantage will once again be prevalent but with the aid of my shiny new Crushing the Cup 2003 which they give away gratis at the OJC-(what a swell bunch of reptiles)-there are some Euros and East Coasters who may make some noise.
The key--according to the authors of this little tome--is to concede home court advantage unless you come across a Road Warrior which is defined below--i think....
The tools being used to arrive at the contenders are

1) 4-6 factors to get your basic contenders

2) an index to further fine tune them (the Crushing Index )

3) very careful attention to the Road Warrior

In the last four runnings in California shippers and Euros have not fared well. The ones that have displayed this profile--

1-Victories at four different tracks during the year. For 2 year olds 3 wins.

2-French based horses must also show a win in England or Ireland. English and Irish based horses must show a win in France or on the continent,

3-Cal-based horses need a win at each S. Cal track.

IF YOU HAVE READ THIS FAR YOU ARE A TOTAL DEGENERATE GAMBLER LIKE ME--GOOD LUCK

Assuming we have a fast track, and Congaree runs in the Classic, Two horses stand out imo. Aldebaran, cutting back to the 6 furlongs won't hurt his chances. A strong closer who likes Santa Anita, winning both starts there.

Midas Eyes trained by Bobby Frankel, is primed for this race. Frankel kept him out of the Triple Crown Races, he lost by a snot at Belmont to another entry here, Posse, in June. Definitely a contender here.

Speaking of Posse,The Riva Ridge winner, can win this race with right pace. May pay a nice price to boot.

He has two serious knocks.

In the last 19 runnings not one single entrant has won the Sprint that is winless at 6f--whether they have raced at the distance or not. Aldebaran is a toss for that very reason--as well as his compromising running style. A pace meltdowm would give him an outaside shot-but at the expected price of 5/2 i aint buying.

Midas Eyes also has the distinction of having less than 4 preps coming into this race. I do not know the history of this trend-but I know that it is a serious hindrance. A race of this calibre needs an historical foundation of sound preps to get the job done.

IMO--too much for this horse to overcome.

Early you can't throwout Aldebaran against that field. It is a very weak Sprint field and besides that, you can't play against a juicer like Frankel in that spot on a track the horse loves. Cheap speed in there, a 110 Beyer or less can win that and I have no doubt Aldebaran can put that up at 6 furlongs.

Actually I think we should only have 1 forum instead of 12 diffrent forums, everyone should just post in one forum about any subject. Good luck with your horse wagering, I prefer wta clay court tennis, and I am coaching my ladies 4.5 team at my tennis club. If Im wagering on something besides womens tennis it will be Williamsport or Big west basketball. I have met some trainers and an aware of the cheating that goes on. I know Hoffman,Headley,Baffert are known cheaters. And Baffert could not even be faithfull to his wife despite having young children. Injury forces Cactus Ridge out of Juvenile

CHICAGO - The unbeaten 2-year-old Cactus Ridge will miss the Breeders' Cup Juvenile because of an injury to his right knee. Cactus Ridge, who has started his career with four straight wins, breezed well at Hawthorne on Saturday, but showed signs of soreness Sunday morning, when the injury was detected.
"We took some X-rays and discovered the injury in his right knee," said Bret Calhoun, who trains Cactus Ridge for Toby Keith's Dream Walkin' Farm. "It's not a career threatening, but he'll be laid up for a couple of months. We'll have to look forward to a 3-year-old campaign"
