F. Out in the left field upperdeck with his biker buddies, wearing his authentic Babe Ruth cap, drinking a 9.00 Budweiser...

lander- There's been a David Wells sighting at the nearby Hometown Buffet. There was a confrontation because Wells tried to cut into the line. When asked by the manager who he was, he said I'm David Wells. The manager said "you can't be David Wells; you're pitching tonight". Wells responded with "screw that, I'm eating tonight".

if i can win my marlins world series future bet and see that panty-waste wells go down as the biggest embarrassment in baseball, it'll be a good week.

the guy pulls a groin getting out of the dugout during the pedro debacle last week, now this.

The wisdom of Boomer, some words to live by:

"I talk a lot of shit, but I always back it up."
"From the time I was ten years old, my only dream (except for the one about me and all three of Charlie's Angels in a Budweiser-filled hot tub), has been to make it as a major leaguer."
"Here amid the southern belles and slack-jawed local of Kinston [North Carolina], I practically jumped a the chance to cohabitate with the maniac."
Referring to Marge Schott, of the Cincinnati Reds: "It drove that woman nuts to think that her players might actually have normal (and/or not-so-normal) adult sexual relations outside the confines of marriage. To me, the woman always just seemed ten pounds of cuckoo in a four-pound clock."
"We go toe-to-toe, and I end up just beating the shit out of him, breaking my hand in the process. We left those guys lying and headed back toward the bar and my car. As we're leaving, one of the guys shouts, "Your keys are under your car seat, asshole! We hid them as a joke!"
"Don't let the standard politically correct sports clichés fool you. We players are always aware of the milestones in front of us, and we really do bust ass to reach 'em. 'it's really just about the team,' we'll lie to the guys from ESPN. 'I never even thought about the record.' Don't believe us."
Upon receiving a cortisone injection in his toe: "I don't know if you've ever seen a six-foot-two, 270-pound man scream like a six-year-old girl, but it's a sight to behold, let me tell you. All I can do now is gobble more medication and hope for the best."

No offense toward Wells, but it really is amazing that you can be effective as a pitcher and be that overweight. His weight certainly lends creedence to the notion that baseball players are not athletes. I know many people may read this and say that baseball players are great athletes, but do you think that an NBA player could have as many rolls of fat as Wells and still have a job? I don't think so.

ALKI,

Do you REALLY believe that DEREK JETER, AROD, & ROGER CLEMENS aren't athletes?

Quit the drinking and get real...

he looks like every chicago cop i have ever seen.

when zimmer charged at pedro, the tv announcers thought it was wells at first. that's how bad the guy has let himself go. he did not weigh the 270 lbs that he does now two years ago.
