"Captain" Janks who got ESPN by saying he was Cubs fan Steve Bartman and asked Dan Patrick live on the air if he liked Howard Stern's butt cheese will be on Court TV's "Hollywood at Large" tonight(Thur). Its a half hour show and Janks will be on the last segment of the show. They show a few clips of Janks in action including the ESPN piece. Air times: 8:30-9:00pm PST and 12:30-1:00am EST/PST. Don't miss it, its hilarious.

Captain Janks calls in CBS News as a witness to the shuttle "Columbia" disintegrating, talks to Dan Rather and tells him the world is watching Baba Booey's teeth flying through the air. Dan Rather continues to talk to Janks!! Unreal. Rather finally gets it after Janks calls him an idiot. This stuff is classic. Court TV is re-airing it right now. 12:30-1:00am EST.

I'm OK with this in general, but I think this is also the guy that called in to a TV news show as the building fire last Friday in downtown Chicago was unfolding. He was saying that he was on one of the floors and how certain floors were blocked, etc...and this was during the time they were trying to ascertain what was really going on and trying to save people. After a few minutes he said 'Mancow sucks, Howard Stern rules' and was cut off. An ESPN Bartman joke is funny, but the fire was a real-life crisis with people's lives on the line and a crank call at that time was completely idiotic and irresponsible and if it wasn't a criminal offense it should have been.

Captain Janks says he does crank phone calls to show what idiots these newscasters are. They are so quick to put someone on the air in an attempt to scoop their competitors that they allow crank phone calls to happen.

Again, that's fine for the most part but not when you have an ongoing crisis situation where lives may be at stake. It's just common sense.

Cap'n does go too far sometimes. The best crank call was not done by him. A guy called up Peter Jennings and convinced him he was at OJ's when OJ came in from the initial chase. Jennings bought the whole story and continued on air until Al Michaels called and broke in live to call it a hoax. Check out www.markfriggin.com for all updates on Howard.
