" Tu vuo' fá ll'americano "
by Carosone-Nisa
Puorte 'e cazune cu nu stemma arreto...
na cuppulella cu 'a visiera aizata
passe scampanianno pe' Tuleto,
comm'a nu guappo, pe' te fá guardá!

Tu vuo' fá ll'americano,
'mericano, 'mericano,
siente a me chi t''o ffa fá?
Tu vuoi vivere alla moda,
ma se bevi "Whisky and Soda",
po' te siente 'e disturbá.

Tu abballe 'o "Rock and Roll",
tu giochi a "BaseBall,"
Ma 'e solde p''e Ccamel,
chi te li dá?
La borsetta di mammá!?

Tu vuó' fá ll'americano,
mericano, mericano,
ma si' nato in Italy!
Siente a me: Nun ce sta niente 'a fá...
Okay, Napolitan!
Tu vuó' fá ll'american,
Tu vuó' fá ll'american!

Comme te pò capí chi te vò' bene,
si tu lle parle miezo americano?
Quanno se fa ll'ammore sott''a luna,
comme te vene 'ncapa 'e dí "I love you"?

<< musica >>

Tu vuó' fá ll'americano,
mericano, mericano,
ma si' nato in Italy!
Siente a me: Nun ce sta niente 'a fá...
Okay, Napolitan!
Tu vuó' fá ll'american!
Tu vuó' fá ll'american!

The "Tu Vuo' Fa l'Americano" with Matt Damon, Jude Law, Fiorello & The Guy Barker International Quintet
scene in the jazz club was one of the best in the movie. I also liked the "My Funny Valentine" bit.

I'm going to have to rent that movie. I trust Jack's taste in music. We will always have music to give us enjoyment if we have nothing else.

The movie is not really a musical. Pretty offbeat, and not for everyone. I enjoyed several peformances, specifically those by, Jude Law, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Cate Blanchett. Matt Damon, and Gwyneth Paltrow, are good as the stars of the movie.

to tell you the truth guys, i didn't like the movie that much, although i did find some of the actors putting in some good performances. But, then again, i d read the book (first in a series of novels by psychological mystery master Patricia Hammermith), and that's usually a spoiler, so i found the film rather flat in comparison to the novel. But the soundtrack is indeed good, well baring the few matt damon vocal bits, with such jazz greats as Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie included, as well as a beautiful song by irish chanteuse extraordinaire, sinead o' connor, and jazzy improv. songs by the film's composer whose name escapes my mind right now.

btw, one of the best versions of the song i posted (and the original one) is by renato carosone, should be easy to find and download.

The tragic sub-plot of the Italian girl friend of the Jude Law character was remarkable.

Jack:

If you like Charlie "Yardbird" Parker, find the movie "Bird" starring Forrest Whitaker. It's a good biography of the saxophone player with some good music.
