Pudge needs to call a pitchout, and Beckett needs to miss the sign, and hit Darling in the mask with a 98 mph fastball.

I didn't think Darling missed those calls. The third ball was a wee bit high, and he couldn't have called it strike 3, or there would have been a big argument from the Yankee bench. And on ball four, that was 100% low.. It was around the ankles. No matter what the home plate ump would have called, half the world would have been happy, and half the world would have thrown their remotes at the tv.

Being an umpire, especially behind the plate is the single toughest job in sports, because you cannot please everyone with every call. All close pitches will always be argued no matter what. Tough being an ump.. But they were the right calls, IMO.. and I am 10000% cheering for the Marlins too, not the NYY, but they were the right calls. They both missed the strike zone, but not by much, trust me..

Sick- You're absolutely correct about those 2 pitches but the one he missed and missed badly was the 3-2 pitch on Giambi. The pitch caught half of the plate and was just above the belt. A clear strike three on Giambi yet the ump called it ball four and the Yankees end up tying the game. That was a big turning point in the game.

May sound like sour grapes from this Fish fan, but i thought the call sucked. You don't leave the bat on your shoulder and walk to first base on two pitches that close. That was a chickensh*t way to score a run (and probably won the ballgame for em), if I was the ump I'd make him swing the bat and earn it.
