I didn't think Darling missed those calls. The third ball was a wee bit high, and he couldn't have called it strike 3, or there would have been a big argument from the Yankee bench. And on ball four, that was 100% low.. It was around the ankles. No matter what the home plate ump would have called, half the world would have been happy, and half the world would have thrown their remotes at the tv.
Being an umpire, especially behind the plate is the single toughest job in sports, because you cannot please everyone with every call. All close pitches will always be argued no matter what. Tough being an ump.. But they were the right calls, IMO.. and I am 10000% cheering for the Marlins too, not the NYY, but they were the right calls. They both missed the strike zone, but not by much, trust me..
