Robert De Niro has Cancer

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Academy Award winning actor Robert De Niro (news), 60, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer (news - web sites), but his prospects for a full recovery are good, his publicist announced on Monday.

"Doctors say the condition was detected at an early stage because of regular checkups," publicist Stan Rosenfield said in a statement. "Because of the early detection and his excellent physical condition, doctors project a full recovery."

De Niro won an Oscar as best actor in 1981 for "Raging Bull," and was named best supporting actor in 1975 for his role in "The Godfather: Part II."

The native New Yorker, who shot to prominence in Martin Scorsese (news)'s 1973 film "Mean Streets," has received four other Oscar nominations as best actor in "Cape Fear" (1991), "Awakenings" (1990), "The Deer Hunter" (1978) and "Taxi Driver" (1976).

Especially if you are someone that rides mountain bikes etc and are over 30.

Dudes even if you are only 21 start taking your Saw Palmetto everyday.

Telly Savalas, best remembered as TV's Kojak died from prostrate cancer because he NEVER got a regular prostrate check up.

Intui...also I MTN ride 3 or 4 times a week you have get that special seat the "V's" out in the back that will protect you from cancer as it aleves the pressure on your anus and testicles

Dante - There have been recent studies that have shown that men that are mountain bikers have a 300%+ chance of getting prostrate cancer than those who don't.

It has something to do with having your prostrate constantly banged on the ride down hill over rough terrain while sitting on the bike seat.
Do some research Dante before you LOL while I'm just trying to help.

Dante if you know biking then Buff up on this latest study...seat or no seat. I use a scissors seat which helps too. BTW I started mountain biking in 1972...how long have you?

Dante - Please check it out. Some doctor say that even if your off the seat the constant jostling up and down contributes.
Guys that ride dirt bikes are at a higher risk as well.
