Last night, I had UNDER 28 pts in the UL-Lafayette/NM St. game in the 1st half for about 3 dimes...an obscure game everyone seems to have ignored.
3 dimes is an extremely handsome wager for me. I usually max out around 1.5.
For once, I wasn't chasing! I picked up over 3 dimes when the Marlins won the LCS, and coupled with another $900 or so I made this week, I was looking to parlay my early winnings for a nice payout when I cashed out tomorrow.
At the end of the 1st quarter, the score in the NMSt. game was a whopping 3-0.
Needless to say, I was sitting pretty, counting my chickens, licking my chops, etc.
But in the first 3 minutes and 53 seconds of the second quarter, THREE touchdowns (and three PATs) scored. I was...befuddled, perplexed, to say the least.
Still, I could "afford" another 3 points. But fear not. That came at the 5:21 mark of the second.
Needless to say, no more points scored in the quarter, so I lost by only 3. The number of points in all the other quarters? 1st - 3 points. 3rd - 10 points. 4th - 9 points. In other words, no more than 2 scores in any one quarter...except for the ridiculous opening 3:53 of the second quarter, in which no fewer than 3 TDs scored.
Needless to say, the book I placed this wager with cut my limits to 1 dime last week, yet somehow permitted me to take the 1st half under for 3 dimes! And on a circled game, no less! Turned out to be quite a prescient decision on their part, and a dagger in the heart on mine.
Needless to say, following that loss, I went 1-3-2 on the rest of the night, for a loss of an additional $2000+.
Needless to say, two of those big losers (about a dime each) last night were Colo. St. and NC St. in the 2nd half, both of which could have covered with a field goal in the waning seconds of the game but elected not to, even though the games were not entirely out of reach.
Needless to say, I was also on TB in MNF last week for 1.5 dimes, when they gave up 21 points to the Colts in the last 4 minutes.
And poof. I go from a very rich week, one day before planning to make a withdrawal, to virtual poverty.
