Pedro GAVE two games to the Yankees. In game 3 he loses his composure and beans a guy with TWO runners on base.
In game 7 he wants revenge so he tells Grady to keep him in. He's going to win all by himself, to hell with the team. He knew that his stuff was gone, so did Grady, that's why he came out to the mound. All three outs in the 7th, the previous inning, were hard hit. The Sox bullpen has been lights out in the postseason.
This is not exemplifying competition, it's being selfish and arrogant. Believe me, his teamates will be grumbling about this for awhile.

Why not blame the rest of the team for not having the killer instinct? They had chances to really run it up in the 4th and 5th and didn't. Good teams know that 4 runs is not enough to assure a victory, especially a team with the attitude of the Yankees. Everyone forgot that a sac fly here, a base hit there and its 6-0 before Giambi strikes. If they had a 5 run lead going into the 8th I don't think Little leaves Pedro in, he is starting to think about saving him for the WS. We could speculate on that a long time, but reality is that the Sox blew chances offensively earlier in the game so that it shouldn't have come down to the 8th inning meltdown.
