UNFORTUNATELY, THE CUBS PLAYED ONE OF THEIR WORST GAMES OF THE YEAR TODAY, AND FELL OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS....A DISSAPPOINTMENT TO US LONG-TIME CUBS FANS WHO REALLY WANTED A TRIP TO THE WORLD SERIES...

HOWEVER, THIS SEASON HAS BEEN ONE HELL OF A RIDE, AND WE TOOK A TEAM THAT LOST 90 (+) GAMES LAST YEAR, AND GOT WITHIN ONE GAME OF THE WORLD SERIES.....AND FOR THAT, WE THANK YOU......

WE HAVE A YOUNG ROTATION THAT SHOULD ONLY GET BETTER, WE MADE SOME TRADES DURING THE SEASON THAT NOT ONLY HELPED US FOR THE SHORT TERM BUT MANY SHOULD HELP US FOR THE LONG HAUL...HOPEFULLY WE HAVE TURNED THE CORNER AND CAN BUILD ON THIS YEAR....

AS MUCH AS I AM SAD THAT THIS SEASON IS OVER, I AM PROUD OF WHAT THE CUBS ACCOMPLISHED AND AM READY FOR ANOTHER DIVISION TITLE NEXT YEAR.......

WE MAY BE OUT, BUT THERE ARE ABOUT25 OTHER TEAMS THAT WISH THEY WERE IN OUR SHOES TODAY.......

BESIDES THE BUCS ALREADY WON THE SUPERBOWL, JUST HOW MUCH COULD I ASK FOR IN 1 YEAR?

GL TO THE MARLINS, U EARNED IT.....

NOW GO WIN IT...

Thank Dusty Baker for basically giving you the series too, his managerial moves in the big games were some of the worst in recent years..

The move of letting Veres pitch to Gonzalez with the pitcher on deck and 2 outs should be all you need to remember about this series, every loss was full of BULLSHIT like that.

Sickening handling of the pitching staff, just disgusting.

I wonder why, they didn't use zambrano or clement in this all important 7th game with them leading 5-3 and kerry wood in trouble. Oh well, I guess we can wait til' next year.

You want to know why?

Because Baker has no clue how to handle pitchers. Obvious when you put Dave Veres into game situations, Farnsworth got lit up 2 nights in a row, Guthrie in Game one..

Need I go on??

I think i will, lets also make sure to ride Wood and Prior till their arms fall off, they are both supermen. Florida on the other hand, used the ENTIRE staff, didn't wreck anyone and when they asked for a little more from Beckett, he delivered.

Oh and anyone who thinks Borowski is a real closer is deluding themselves, the guy throws meatball after meatball...

Larry Rothschild will someday get this job. Not next year, not the one after that but someday. He got a raw deal in Tampa, had chit to wotk with down here.

That is of course if he was not the one orchestrating these moves and I don't think that was the case.

Thank you Cubs for being Cubs. And especially thanks to Cubs' homer betting fans for inflating the line to turn the Fighting Fish into a +175. The marlins who won three more games in a much tougher division and finished as the hottest team in baseball.
If my Pittsburgh Pirates can't win next year(probable) I'll be rooting for Cubbies to get into post-season as I really need the bread this time of year.

I'll add my thank yous as well ...

Thank you, Cubs, for a season to remember.

Thank you for the promise of even better years.

Thank you, D2bets, for putting me on a prop bet on the Cubs to win the WS that allowed me to hedge out a 100 unit win.

Thank you, Kenny Lofton, for scoring more often than James Bond in a harem, which allowed me to cash 5 out of 6 prop bets: 115 units worth.

And thank you, Cubs, for proving the Houston, St. Louis and Atlanta backers completely wrong.

Thank you cubs for being known as one of the biggest choker teams out there ever that were up 3-1 in a series and lose. That guy Borowski is just great with those meatballs brock

I've siad this in a few post but feel I need to harp on it again. A relief pitchers success depends on his throwing the timing of opposing hitters off. Since he will likely face the lineup only one time (or even one innning), batters do not have time to make adjustments to the pitchers.
The best relief pitchers are either A)guys who's stuff is so much faster than others, eg. Eric Gagne, or B)guys with unorthodox deliveries or pitches, eg. Chad Bradford, Dan Quisenberry
Borowski was successful some of this year, because his "junk" was different than the fireballers of Wood, Prior, and Zambrano(to an extent). Alfonseca was getting lit up regularly because he relied on a fastball that was inferior to the starters.
Florida is largely a free swinging fastball hitting team, it took them a while but eventually they caught up to Prior and Wood, and wore them down with high pitch counts.
Dusty WORST move was bringing in a fireballing Farnsworth to put gasoline on the fire, when the Marlins had already spent 6 or 7 innings catching up to the heaters. Someone coming in throwing sliders and changeups would have eaten them up.
That is why I fear the Red Sox more than the Yankees becuase guys like Wakefield and Burkett will give them trouble.

I heard it put perfectly on the sports radio today.

Baker managed the game like it was game 58 in the middle of June and not like Game 7 of the series.

He has no concept of big game management. Who needs more proof than the last 2 nights??
