Folks, folks, folks!!--The SHORT-term means nothing!!! Especially 10-40 games. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, a 37-3 or a 3-37 streak does not give an ounce of proff if an individual is a good or bad handicapper.

In reality, and I am not exaggerating here, one needs to observe at least 5 years of an individual and his betting results!!!!! And if the truth be known, the true measure of a successful handicapper cannot be measured until he or she is in the grave. Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration there, but there are instances that this is the case mainly due to basic money management principles.

Please allow yourself not judge a handicapper on such miniscue results. Completely foolish on anyones part to do that.

It amazes me how posters at this forum and others base their opinions on someones handicapping knowledge on such small track records.

No, as serious as a heart attack!!

Just trying to educate you sir and mean no disrespect to you.

All very good handicappers that have a very good proven track record(54-61% win percentage), will have MANY MANY bouts of losing streaks.

The very very best way to prove this to yourself is to very simpley gather 100 objects(marbles, coins,chips,etc.etc.) and divide them into a 60/40 ratio which would equate to a 60% winning percentage. So for example have 60 black marbles and 40 red marbles. Put them in a sack or bag and pull ONE out and mark it on a sheet of paper as either being a red or black marble. REPLACE BACK THE MARBLE YOU PULLED OUT AND PUT IT BACK IN THE BAG, shake and withdraw another one. In this exercise you will be picking a winning black marble 60% of the time but you will be mystified at how many times you will pull a red marble out. Very important, THE MORE YOU DO THIS, THE CLOSER AND CLOSER YOU WILL COME TO THE EXACT 60% RATIO.......but in the process you will have had some incredible runs of pulling a red marlbe out of the bag IN A ROW!! You will have stretches where you will pull that red marble out 18 out of 20 times(which equates to a 2-18 run betting).

I hope you fully understand this principle. It is one EVERY sports bettor needs to realize.

GOOD LUCK SIR

what gets me is that on wayne root's radio show (that alone brings up another topic - but we will get to that some other time) al boasts how hitting 60% used to be considered a great season for a capper - but with his systems he can hit 65%, 75% and up to 85% of his plays. i think he should first try ad hit 25% - and then go up from there.

There was one card this summer in MLB where he was an abysmal 0-5 or so and in his promo, he said something to the effect of "if you can put at least a dime per game.." Naturally in 3 of the games, you had to lay some serious wood so it was not a good day. I see last night he laid the lumber with Prior at -260. Al, Al, Al.

Fishhead, you're the one that needs an education. 5 years to know whether someone is a good handicapper? Sir, let me educate you, a good handicapper does not have consecutive losing seasons. If he does he better start looking for other work.
