a book trying new marketing techniques does NOT mean they are in trouble. have you had any trouble getting paid there?

RPM,

Constantly calling me for weeks on end when I have told them I am not interested comes across to me as a sign of desperation. Also this from MW:

quote:
Rio owes out about 1.5 million. Reportedly 800K to Joey C and 700k to Larry Delmar. Word on the street is that Larry Delmar bought the book for what he was owed to absorb the debt. I do not beleive that. I think they are still not sold and operating on a wing and a prayer every day. There is no successfull real estate tycoon.

be warned for the 3rd time.

yeah its unsettling to get calls asking "when are you going to deposit that ....." or " I was just wondering if you had any trouble depositing lately cuz we havent seen you load your accout"

RPM,
I think that is a valid question. It is the reason I didnt sign up and was going to before the calls. Either way Rio should know when a way of marketing is deterring customers. If someting doesnt sit well with me I assume the same for others. So i'm assuming they lost alot of signups this way.

With that said I'll be keping an eye on the hlf point once football season is over.

Russ,

I was trying to stay out of this, but I can't allow you to deliberately and maliciously LIE about one of our sponsors being in finacial trouble...

You made a bald face LIE about RIO owing out over one million dollars which we both know is not true!

You did this because RIO refused to continue advertising on your site this Football Season and then you threatened Dave Mahoney by saying that unless he were to reconsider advertising with MW, you would make RIO pay for it!!!

Given that your credibility is at an all-time low according to many of the sports books I visit regularly, this won't help you much at all...

The DON BEST books which do transfers with RIO are still doing so, but if RIO were REALLY in trouble as you LIED about, (owing out over a million dollars, lolol), do you really think ANY of these sports books would be trusting RIO with their money?

Also, why aren't ANY gamblers, agents, or posters coming on these forums complaining of slow pays or no pays involving RIO?

Because YOU KNOW and I KNOW that there aren't any!

The fact that you would deceive everyone for your own selfish agenda doesn't surprise me at all...

But please don't use this forum to accomplish that!

Lastly, Joey C was owed money during last year's Baseball Season!!!

Rio was advertising with you then...

So, since you obviously thought it was RIO who owed JOEY C the money (which it isn't), then why didn't you announce it when RIO was advertising with MW??!!

This deception and lying has got to stop Russ or before you know it, you will have no one posting or no one advertising anymore at your site...

RPM,

I have played there in the past. I did not re-up with them this year because of their new "marketing techniques". Constantly cold calling me for weeks on end when I have told them I am not interested comes across to me as a sign of desperation.

I had a payout last week from them no problem. It wasn't a 6 figure payout so I don't know how much you can read into it but they have paid me several times over the last 9 months no problems. It does get a little old with the telemarketing since I already have a funded account with them, but no worse then my bank calling me every night with a new offer.

Dear loyal RX forum readers and Rio/Skybook customers:

First of all, we would like to thank all of you for your many words of support and your loyalty during times when unscrupulous people attempt to discredit us. We can't thank you enough for the emails thanking us for the free contests, free half points, fast payouts, etc. etc.

The purpose of this announcement is to defend the plethora of inaccurate statements made by an individual who is obviously reeling into a downward spiral--that person being the pathetic Russ Hawkins from MajorWager.com.

It is widely known that of all the dregs in the offshore industry, that he is the lowest, along with Charlie from Aces Gold, Peter Linz of the Dunes, and many other deadbeats and scam artists. Russ Hawkins has backed many books that he knew were going under, and even started his own sportsbook that STIFFED all of its customers at the end. We could go on all day, but enough about this sorry individual.

The bottom line here is that Rio/Skybook/IIS was one of his top advertisers two years ago. We paid him a lot of money to be on his site. However, due to the fact that his site is so small, and so nominal in terms of credibility, so poor in terms of return on investment, the company decided to pull its advertising, along with a multitude of other advertisers. When advertisers pull their ads from this broke individual, he attempts to extort them to bring them back. In other words, he makes you think that if you don't re-up with him, that he will badmouth you and attempt to ruin your company. We at Rio/Skybook were intimidated at first, but knew that this individual had to be stopped in his denial of service types of attacks that extort sportsbooks.

The only difference between now and two years ago is the fact that we stopped advertising there. Let this be a WARNING and a heads up to all prospective advertisers. When you realize that his site elicits no customers and you decide to terminate advertising, he will go after you in the same way the russian hackers who extorted the books with their denial of service attacks.

A couple of weeks following our pulling of the advertising he started a myriad of malicious rumors designed to undermine Rio/Skybook. He rumored that Rio was going under in a couple of months, was slow paying customers, and owed astronomical debts to individuals in the business.

All of these attempts to discredit Rio/Skybook have obviously been futile. Rio/Skybook continues to grow and strive to improve. Skybook was recently mentioned widely in a New York Times article. The viability of Rio/Skybook has never been better as illustrated by the fact you will not find one customer who will ever say he has been slow paid, by the fact that we have been with Don Best Premium for 6 years, USATODAY.COM for 3 years, (USATODAY obviously would not collaborate with a sportsbook who doesn't pay), and by the fact that Rio pays out thousands and thousands of dollars in free sports contests every year without blinking an eye.

As far as Rio/Skybook owing money? C'mon. Do you think fellow respected books like Cris, Hollywood, Grande, Olympic and Jazz would continue to do large transfers with us? We all know the answer to that.

All we ask of you readers is that in the future that you do your own due dilligence in terms of deciding if his rumors or any rumors posted in the forum are true. Call Joey C. or call Larry, find out for yourself if these rumors are true instead of choosing to believe a mudslinging, desperate individual on his last legs over a premier sportsbook that has always vowed to be generous, ethical, and diligent.

Thank you very much for your time, and thanks again for your support throughout the years.

Sincerely,

Management

No player has ever been kicked out or cut off for being sharp here.

In fact, if you think you are sharp and are not playing with us, we invite you to show us what you have.

ANYONE WHO REACTS IN ANY WAY TO THE WORDS OF THAT LOSER FROM MAJOR WAGER MUST BE THE KIND OF GUY WHO BELIEVES WHAT THEY READ IN THE NATIONAL INQUIRER. RUSS IS A TRANSVESTITE WHO STIRS THE SOUP. NOTHING HE SAYS HAS ANY CREDIBILITY. IT IS TIME THAT WE START USING THESE FORUMS TO HELP EACH OTHER AS OPPOSED TO PERPETUATING LIES AND HATE. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT RUSS IS SLIME, LET'S MOVE ON.
