I have been gambling for 30 plus years and have learned many lessons through the years, some the hard way. Don’t ever risk more than 4 or 5% of your bankroll on one play no matter how sure you are about the game. Be responsible and don’t chase. Pick what sports you know the best and stick to them. STAY AWAY FROM PARLAYS AND TEASERS!!!! I never check the TV listings until after my plays are in. Betting TV games are another way of getting your ass kicked. Quality not quantity is the smartest way to go. Betting 10-20 games on a given day is another mistake a lot of us make. The juice will get you killed. Find a few games you love and play only those. If you win on Saturday don’t feel you have to load up on Sunday. Betting just to bet is fine if you want to consistently lose your bankroll. You have to decide why you gamble. Do you do it for recreation or strictly as a way to increase your wealth. I have been involved with many people who have ruined their life by not practicing self control. Lastly I want everyone here at the RX to rent themselves a movie that is due out tomorrow called Owning Mahowny. This will show you what can happen when you lose control of your life due to gambling. Later guys and enjoy your evening.

www.netflix.com

This is the largest DVD rental site on the net - they are releasing that movie on Oct. 14 for rental - I know, I've had it in my queue for over a month.

Quality over quantity is excellent advise, a strict adherence to money management is of utmost importance.. Ive been in this racket for 17yrs myself and im growing more selective each year..

I don't understand this. If someone is losing there ass off shouldn't that teach them to be disciplined?? It did for me. A few months ago I started betting some sports that I had no bussiness betting. After losing a good chunk in 1 weekend, that was it. I told myself I would only bet 1 sport from then on and have been able to do so (regained all of my money plus a bit more). If someone is doing something wrong they should learn from it and change. Whats the saying, those who don;t learn from mistakes are doomed to repeat them?

Great reminders Harrington!

The TV games are especially hard to lay off of...especially on MNF and ESPN CFL thursday..

Great Article.....
My biggest problem is the TV games. I always feel the need to watch the games that I play.... Like I will somehow have some kind of control on the outcome. I even have a DJ Franks pager just in case I cant watch it....pretty pathetic. Oh well another game is about to start on TV better get my bet in.
