Just to clarify things, I wanted to shed some light and explain to you guys what I know about "Betting Syndicates". Simply put, Syndicates are a group of professional gamblers with a lot more money than most have, pooling their resources and betting massive amounts on games. They have the funds to hire the very best handicappers money can buy (not sports services, but legit handicappers) and get information most "sports services" only dream about. The only problem sometimes is that they may pound a game hard to drive the line up, only to come back later and play the opposite side for the "middle". This would explain why sometimes you see what the Syndicates are playing and there is no line movement, and other times the line moves like crazy! They are not "game fixers" but occasionally they may recieve information that is not public knowledge or in the newspapers. This is not claiming bullsh*t like you might here from Stu Fiener or some of the "boiler room" operations out there (guys that give one side of a game to you and the other side to me). These guys do not win every day, every week, or every month but they do win over time in all sports. Just like tonight for example they had two pretty solid plays in the NHL and I don't watch Hockey nor do I have any knowledge of the game but I played those two games because I know that info (selections) was solid. That doesn't mean I will win but if I stick with the plays they will over the "long haul". Anyway, didn't mean to be so "long winded" but I wanted anyone out there to get a grasp of what "Syndicates" are about.

Good luck to all,
DAWG

that's what I thought was the typical understanding of a syndicate, but Major described it in one of his write-up's as basically a laundering apparatus for organized crime, which garners the wrong kind of attention to the books they use

as for the middling, I don't see how this can be profitable over time, given that with standard -110 vig, you would have to successfully middle 1 in 20 times (or 1 in 10 if you push one side) to even stay afloat

as for operating on inside info, I'm not convinced that so-called handicappers really do better than most reasonably astute sports fans - for example, how many times have "key injuries" led the pundits to write off a team, only to see the 2nd string get especially fired up and dominate a game?

do these syndicates have a solid track record that you actually believe?
