Anyone have any thoughts on index betting on the NFL as VIP Sports is tryig to push this heavily this year.

Just came across a collegues site and even though this is big in the UK, what do you Americans think of this form of betting?

Index betting is big in the Uk and is good for certain sports like cricket etc but the spread is normally too high like 0.3 goals in a soccer game. It's really for pussies on the stock market who think that it is more sophisticated to bet in this manner.

cricket is a hard sport to bet but for index betting its good if you are up on your weather forecasts and know how a pitch is likely to play. selling total runs can be a classic bet if you are in before the odds makers on information about the groundstaff having problems with pitch, excess rain making it a greentop etc. Like last year when new zealand played india in new zealand. New Zealand knew to have any chance against the very strong indian batting line up they had pitches prepared that were unplayable - i don't remember either team making 200 in any game.
