Is it really as fun knowing your team will win a minimum of 95 games and almost certainly will win the division every year

I really am curious if it feels the same , after all the deck is so loaded in your favor it can't be as rewarding, can it?

It must be nice at midseason to go out and get other teams number 3 hitters and number one starters

And if thats not enough, always getting the umpires call (Jeffrey Maier

)

Atleast Richie Garcia isn't around to fix your games

Journeyman,

It feels great being a Yankee fan because I prefer being associated with WINNERS, not LOSERS....

Why are the always about to get rid of Andy Pettite?

They get Mussina and Giambi and Mondesi and Weaver (LOL) but its always Pettite rumored to be leaving....

Clemens (gone)
Pettite (gone)
Wells (old)
Mussina (Mr May)
Middle relief (questionable at best)
Rivera (savior)

I'm with Shrink in that I never understand why the dominant forces are always disliked by so many. I'm not arguing for the Yankee's upper management and their good graces, but when you can win so many games, championships, etc. I think you deserve respect.

Personally, I love when there is a dominant force, especially in horseracing. The Lakers 99-02, the Ravens 01, the bucs 02, Secretariat, Sunday Silence, Byakoa, Serena Williams, etc.

Isn't sports about dominance...in the alpha-male spirit? The greatest dominant individuals in history are usually terrific assholes...not sure why so many are hung up about that.

I also hate being a fan. I love competition but I don't want to care who wins. Being a "speculator," I just want to seek out the best opportunity.

...and in gambling, one of the best opps is to stick with a trend; especially since so much money is wagered in it's ending.

I`m all for dominant teams, and respecting teams such as the Yankees...But come on these last 7-8 years lol, you can`t even count these championships...

These Yankees have dominated for one reason only, they are the team with the most and thats wrong....Even if I was a diehard Yankees fan I wouldn`t be wild about stealing a player like Jason Giambi from Oakland, thats just plain not fair!

I think it fits in well with the mentality of the city itself, New York is all about and not much more then about the loot!

Being a novice to the continent - it's interesting to hear that people hate the Yankees because they have the resources - same situation in the UK - most Soccer fan hate Man United for exactly for the same reason.

I can't see how living in country like the US anyone can complain about have's and havenots - that's what the American dream is and why they feel they are so great. How can you have a socialist system for sport - like the bad teams getting the first picks from colleges when society itself kicks people from the gutter further down. Let the free market reign in sport and let the weak die - Cincinnatti, Chicago etc - why support and try to lift the losers?

It's like having a non nascar approved car running in a nascar race knowing that it will win every time. Not much fun in rooting for that car.

Not quite the same - body machinery for the teams are much the same. Skill levels are what are being purchased and these are vastly different amongst players so you're right - not much fun in rooting for the Yankees so if you feel that way support an underdog team or follow a sport where there is an inherent handicapping element to it - Horse racing etc. Fact remains you can't expect sport to be equal and fair when this is not promoted in your society as a whole - not that it is bad thing. The fact that success is being bought is the way of life - accept it and move on.
