First off let me say that I feel qualified to comment on this. I came from an era when showboating wasn't even heard of and I played baseball for pay for a few years. Though it was long ago, I'm not talking about semi-pro either. Don't ask me who I played for or when since that is personal information that I would rather not divulge. Suffice it to say, I never played in the Show or even came close to it.

After the few I did hit however, it was head down and a trot with elbows flying up and head down like the Mick or Ernie.

So now I should join in on the chorus of stick it in the MF's ear and so forth. RIGHT? WRONG. Times change, society has changed and the games have changed--at least football and basketball have changed. Would Paul Hornung have done an endzone dance? How often did Bob Cousy pound his chest and trashtalk?

If baseball ever has a chance to regain popularity with the MTV crowd and especially young Afro-Americans, which is slim to none anyway, its players better start being colorful, arrogant, and aholes. Because that's exactly what they are in football and basketball. And I'm very sorry to say in large part it has helped the popularity of those sports.

Manny does not showboat.....he is styling. The soon to be greatest RBI man in the games history has earned it.

I agree with you Mr. Jones. Lets face it, those endzone dances in football are pretty damn entertaining. It makes the game a little better IMO.
There is nothing entertaining at all about watching a get run around the bases with his head down for 15 seconds.
If these pitchers feel disrepsected then the next time they strike that batter out they can showboat if they want, they get more chances then the batters. Throwing at the batter is bullshit though, someone could get hurt. If a pitcher intentional hits the batter with a pitch the hitter should be able to run out there and take one whack at the pitcher with the bat. Fair is fair.

showboating is poor sportsmanship. if you do it, then atleast wait till the game is over.

Sh*t, I like to see players showing emotions, It brings more excitement to the game whether I'm for or against the team I'm betting.

I don't mind when a guy celbrates when he does something meaningful. I can't stand seeing a guy sack the QB in the 4th quarter, his team is down 20+ points and he acts like he just won the Super Bowl. Plus this is a new era and things change, this is the way the game is now. People want to be on ESPN.
