On November 4th, Nevada voters will decide on Amendment 33, which would put 2500 video gaming terminals in dog and race tracks in the state. Although not strictly online gaming, the scratch card type games are very similar to those found on the Internet.

The potential of the video gaming terminals is promising for the racetracks, and if they can do in Las Vegas what they have done in the United Kingdom, revenue to the tracks will be substantial. However, small local casinos oppose the proposed terminals saying that they will detract from their business.

The similarities between video terminal gambling and online gambling are slight. And if Nevadans vote yes to Amendment 33, online casino lobbyists and supports will have another arrow in the quiver to fire at Nevada legislators.

Dante-
Vegas has video poker/slots/blackjack machines in the mini-marts of the gas stations. I find it hard to believe that a dog track (if there are any) wouldn't have these machines.

I know for a fact that there are not any horse or dog tracks in the Las Vegas area....and know of none anywhere else in the state. Probably is Maine.

Sorry, I thought about it. This is a Colorado initiative. Maine is where they are trying to get voters to approve a tribal casino 50 miles from Boston. Colorado's initiative has almost no chance of passing, word has it that its about 30% for and close to 60% against. The casinos there are heavily lobbying against it and the recently revelation that the owners of some of the tracks in Colorado are facing bribery charges in Rhode Island just about seals the fate of this one.
