In the spirit of goats and infamous names of Red Sox post seasons past, I would like to honor these memorable men with this poll....

Joe Morgan(not the manager), Bucky Dent, Bob Stanley, Calvin Shiraldi, Mookie Wilson,Ray Knight, Kevin Mitchell, Game 6 (86), Wade buck buck buck Boggs, Tony Conigliaro,Mike Torrez,The Rocket (leaving), Babe Ruth (the curse), Donnie Moore (the suicide), Dom Dimmagio (the wrong brother), Dan Duquette (the idiot) Johnny Pesky and his right field pole, lol, Yaz(popping out) , Teddy Ballgame (after life) and the entire Yawkey family

have studied the characteristics and have come up with these logical scenarios.....Which will happen?

LMAO - no sir, the Sox, like the Cubs, will exorcise some demons tonight. But if I catch a whiff of ole Bung Hole on that mound, I'm crawling underneath the couch

HAVE NEVER HELD A GRUDGE AGAINST BILLY BUCK. WOULD HAVE NEVER REACHED THE SERIES WITHOUT HIM. PLUS, GAME WAS OVER BY THAT TIME FOR ALL PRACTICAL PURPOSES. STANLEY MUCH MORE OF A GOAT IN MY OPINION.

Even without winning it all for so many years, you`d have to say the Red Sox are in the top 5 storied franchises in Baseball History...

My top 5 alltime basbeall franchises.

Yankees (obviously)
Cardinals
Dodgers
Red Sox
Orioles (slight homer that I am)

Agree with you completely Fish. I lived in Chicago during Buckner's best years with the Cubs. Hell of a ballplayer; one of my favorites and just a few hits away from the HOF.

Aside from Calvin Shiraldi's miserable outing that inning [Shiraldi ironically went from Boston to the Cubs afterward], Stanley threw a wild pitch allowing Knight to get into scoring position, did not hear Marty Barrett's call for a pickoff that probably gets Knight and then was late in covering the bag on Wilson's grounder also. So the best case scenario would have been Wilson safe on first with HoJo coming up.

What would be priceless would be Sox/Cubs Shiraldi throwing out a low boucing first ball for the first Cubs/Sox series game in Fenway to Cubs/Sox Buckner attempting to catch it; the ball, of course, would skip between a pair of bad ankles.

George Will and Peter Gammons, delirious with laughter, would both fall out of the press box, meanwhile Beantown Jim, forgetting momentarily about the lawnmower and Lenny, would jump out of the stands in an attempt to retrieve the ball and be banned from Fenway for the entire series.

Boston's last clincher was game 5 in 1999. Pedro comes in in relief and no hits the Indians the final 6 innings and is carried off the field. Expect more of the same tonight. A's are a deflated and defeated team. Sox/Yanks...can't wait.

I think the Boston choke will have to wait a series. The A's blew 2 golden chances to win with lack of hustle (Tejada & Byrnes) in game 3, & a blown lead late in game 4.

Boston is a good team, and I don't think you can hand them 2 games and expect to overcome the momentum.

Who will ever forget Byrnes boner , and then shoving the catcher...Tejada, why did he stop running, it would have been a very close play at the plate...

These playoffs have been prety screwy with baserunning and umpire blunders....

I agree with Lander how many chances can you give a team and now its Pedro time...Boston 4 A`s 1

If I had to guess a goat, it would be Todd Walker - he may be the worst fielding 2nd baseman in the league. At the beginning of the playoffs, I would've said Kim but I don't think he'll get the chance to pitch in a clutch situation now.

Hope I'm wrong and Sox win.
