Jazz - Do you remember the episode of the Twilight Zone where this down and out horse bettor was granted the wish to get tomorrow's newspaper today so he could get the racing results before the race was run. Do you remember what happened at the end of the episode?

He wins a ton of money at the track, when he leaves he takes a look at the front of the newspaper, while he is waiting to cross the street. The headline reads "Man Killed by Bus" and laying there dead on the road is a picture of himself. He does this just as he starts to cross the street in front of an unseen moving bus.

I wish I could see that episode just one more time. They sure don't make 'em like that anymore. Instead, they have ridiculous realism tv programs like The Bachelor.

Man I loved that show.Way ahead of it's time. I can't watch most of the crap on nowadays and there are so many channels to supposedly choose from.

Doesn't he then go to the afterlife where a nice guy greets him in luxurious surroundings and offers him anything he wants? He then starts to gamble it up, constantly winning, has the best scotch and gorgeous girls surrounding him. He's amazed he ended up in heaven after being such a bum on earth, but he's not one to complain. More scotch, more cash, more girls, and eventually it starts to get boring and he's running out of things to keep up the titillation...in a pensive mood he goes to his host and asks "I wasn't a kind or giving person during my life, I drank, smoked, didn't give a rats ass about anyone but myself, and here I am getting everything I want in heaven. I was sure I'd end up in the other place"

To which the host replies: "Sir, this is the other place"

That was a great episode. Can't remember if it was the same one, though.

It wasn't the same episode. But you're right, Rod Serling was WAY ahead of his time. Don't ANY of the 100 channels on Directv show re-runs of this show anymore?

There was another one involving gamblers, the second, newer Twilight versions I think, but two guys bet each other on various things, and one of them was not able to pay up once, and they decided to take his finger off I believe, as the payment "method". Then , it goes to years later when they are both very old men playing some game at a table, betting on it of course, and both are in wheelchairs without hardly any limbs left........

I remember the one where the guy sells his soul to the devil unless there is a task the devil cannot perform. He tells the devil to "get lost".

I really liked the way the sweatshirt on the devil kept changing the slogan. A cheap trick but those shows were really more like radio on TV. I really loved the 90 minute radio plays I used to be able to listen to as a teenager.

i like the one where the guy has that stopwatch that stops the world. he can click it and steal donuts, look up someone's skirt, etc. then it breaks while the world is stopped and he goes insane.

there was also an episode where everyone was terrified of billy mummy (will robinson from lost in space). that was a good one.

THERE WAS ANOTHER REAL GOOD ONE INVOLVING GAMBLING WHERE A GUY FINDS A CAMERA THAT TAKES A PICTURE OF WHAT WILL BE THERE IN 5 MINUTES....SO THEY TAKE IT TO THE TRACK AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE TOTE BOARD BEFORE THE RACE STARTS....THEN THEY ARE IN THE APARTMENT AND THE CAMERA GOES OFF, AND I CANT REMEMBER EXACTLY HOW IT HAPPENS BUT THEY END UP BOTH FALLING OUT THE WINDOW...I THINK IT TOOK A PICTURE OF HER FALLING, THEN HE WENT TO LOOK AND FELL TOO....I CANT REMEMBER EXACTLY BUT THAT ONE WAS GOOD TOO.....
