wouldn't the Lakers -137 not to win the NBA Championship be a no-brainer???

I'm asking this because wouldn't the price on the Eastern Conference Champion vs. Lakers in a 7 game series be over +200??

I'm just interested in getting everyone's thoughts on this...

My thought: Though I'm not a Lakers fan by any means, I'm not sure I would ever bet on a 9 month futures wager as chalk.

IMO futures wagers should basically be used only on wagers with large odds that has very good (perceired, at least) value. Things that are 20-1, 40-1, 50-1, 100-1, etc that would become eminently hedgable.

Clay, if you bet the Lakers not to win the NBA championship at -137, you would be in big trouble if they make it to the finals because the Lakers then would be big plus money not to win the NBA finals.

I am tempted to bet No if I only knew Kobe's trial would be during the season. I have to believe Kobe's defense team will delay the trial until after the NBA finals.
