As many of you readers know, BCBETS.com was DOS attacked last Sunday.

Our teckkies and telecom guys have spent a ton or time and money to ensure the dos attacks are hopefully a thing of the past.

BC did NOT pay the attackers off.

We want to let all Rx readers know our website www.bcbets.com is fully functional this morning.

We would like to again thank our tech staff and telecom providers for working thru this difficult time, and we would like to thank all our customers for hanging in there, thru this past and difficult week.

BC,
Great job standing up to those punk cowards.

The only way to beat them is to fight them - my money says the sportsbooks have deeper pockets than these chumps (or they wouldn't risk it

) ... so the more money they waste on bandwidth - the closer they are to being finished.

lander - There is allot the books can do to protect their sites from these packet floods so don't EVER give in. We can outsmart them.

But we know for sure we can all thank Bill Gates and Microsoft for selling software full of security HOLES that these attackers take advantage of and use Window's PC for all kinds of attacks.

Microsoft fix your fuking software!

Mark my words.... One day there will be a successful class action lawsuit against MSFT for selling and marketing defective products, no matter what disclaimers they have when you agree to use their software.

Have all the books being attacked run on a NT platform?

Any *NIX boxes successfully attacked?

Joey-

Actually, there is a brand new lawsuit that is trying to sue them for some identity theft as a result of a virus.

The key to this new suit is that Microsoft has an obligation to provide a secure platform because they have systematically made it difficult for anyone to function without Microsoft operating systems/browsers. Since Microsoft leaves users without viable alternatives (and makes their word/excel/etc incompatible with others to force need for MS), they just avoid responsibility with some licensing mumbo-jumbo.

The suit is filed by a single user, but designed to be converted into a class-action suit.

Joey,

The DOS attack is not aimed at a specific platform, it is an attack on the pipe.

You know the pipe?? Seems you have been smoking based on your last response.

Pop Quiz Joey

What book software is running on nix??

Java,
This stuff isn't my forte. Where exactly is the "bottleneck", so to speak? The webserver or the router?

We had the sunspot issue today, but other than that the sites held up well.

Lots of traffic.
