Marlins vs. Giants: California Dreary?
Florida Marlins to win by 3 or more runs +160

Excuse me. The Florida ML is +150. We're supposed to give up an extra two runs to get +160 over +150? Posting a line like this to try and trick people with a cute title is unacceptable. Post an opposite line to the -2.5 runs and then we'll talk.

Shouldn't this be considered price-gouging? I realize no one is forced to bet it, but still, IMO if you offer a line it should be at least somewhat reasonable.

It is the same story with Intertops in Euro. football. In UEFA Champions League betting, the second most watch tourny, they offer 40 point spreads in handicapped betting. By comparison

Bluegrass 30 pts
Oly 20 pts
Pin 8 pts

Why even offer such a non-competitive line?

Their soccer odds stink.

Pinn, WWTS, and Oly gets all my action. Only wish there were more soccer books taking Neteller.

I'm not a real big fan of anyone who posts odds for one side but not the other.

For example at Pinnacle yesterday not only could you bet the standard World Series futures, but you could also bet "No" on any of the teams available. Sure "No" is going to be a heavy favorite, but at least its out there if you really like a team to fail.

There should not be an organization that protects people from their own stupidity.

There is so much available information to help players, when you bet into a bad line its your fault.

D2bets-

If you personally protest to a book even posting line like that, why have an account there?!?! Withdraw your money in protest. Oh wait, its OK when they have a line you like and want to pound. The only way these books learn is through their wallets. What they have learned is that they can get square and sharp money alike by conducting business they way they do.

Thanks for the info D2.

Whether it's good or bad, it's always nice to have up to date info on how a book is operating.

swami has a point about why Intertops is doing it, but so does D2 - D2 simply pointed it out, he didn't start a movement to 'ban the book'. And you'd be surprised at what some newbies won't know until they learn - maybe someone learned something today.

Personally, I enjoy seeing stupid lines like that. Kind of makes me chuckle over my morning bourbon-in-coffee - here's another one for laffs ...

Marlins v Giants: Fish Fried?

San Francisco Giants to Win by 4 or More Runs +185

Without looking around because I'm still sleepy and hung-over, Olympic has SF -2.5 +200.

I'd also like to point out one other thing - you don't see this blatant a price-gouging at top-tier books, at least I haven't.

Why do you assume I have an account there, when did I even say that? This isn't about me anyway, it's about Intertops. Intertops has a right to post such a line, I'm not denying that. My point was that they should be taken to task and exposed for it -- and so I am.

While I am a big fan of intertops the odds on the multiple run games are outrageous.

Was wondering myself who would be these stupid props when you can get better odds on a -2' at a 5 dimes.

Weak move by Intertops.

You are correct I shouldn't have assumed that you have an account there. I ASSUMED you did since you were looking at their lines but it is certainly possible that you saw the lines posted someplace else.

I'm not defending Intertops, I was just trying to understand why they should be "taken to task," rather than avoided by knowledgable bettors. In fact, why should ANYONE bet with a book at normal juice when reduced juice shops are available? (this question is more rhetorical in nature)

Do they have ALT RL's there? 2.5 RL's?

If not and you want to make a bet like that, look elsewhere. Plain and simple. There are some great books that have these options.

With all due respect, D2, Intertops needs to be “taken to task” for posting some bad prices about as much as the Bellagio needs to be taken to task for positioning the “Big Wheel” just inside their casino door.

You know the Big Wheel … worst odds in the casino … plunk your cash on the table and the dealer gives ‘er a spin. It’s just inside the casino entrance -- at every casino, not just the Bellagio -- for a reason, too. It makes money for the house. Period.

And, when you win at the Bellagio (or wherever), you get paid because somebody else lost (actually, lots of “somebody elses” have lost). If all the casino games’ odds were stacked in the players’ favor, the casino wouldn’t last very long.

So, Intertops is posting some ugly numbers. And, they’ll make money on those bets. That way, when you or I win (playing better value numbers of course), Intertops will have money to pay us, as well. It’s nothing more than Casino Business Basics 101.

It’s up to the player to avoid the sucker bets. Sharps continue to cash in because squares and suckers continue to lose. Let it be.

Well, gentlemen, I think we have an answer here - Intertops has changed the lines, perhaps in response to the initiative shown by D2 - maybe if we save the life of just one square, it will have been worth the enormous expenditure of time on all of our parts ...

p.s. it isn't possible the lines moved upwards because of betting, obviously, since there is only one line to begin with ... also, these are still no bargain, ESPECIALLY the lines on the Cubs and Braves, but they have graduated from absolute rape and damnation to a lesser crime of simple pick-pocketing ... I am encouraged they have apparently responded to D2's topic, in all seriousness - even if people bet these, and they by some miracle win, they'll get paid some bettah

Well, props (pun intended) to Intertops for moving into the realm of reasonableness. They did the right thing.

As for the bulk of the responses here, I simply wasn't aware that so many posters here were so protective over profiting on the backs of those poor old squares.
