Rail has listed them as the best team in the country....but then the team he had listed as the best Little League team in the world went 0-fer in the LL West Regionals... go figure.

TT,

You misunderstood my post... the team he liked to win it all went 0-fer in the regionals. Rail actually hit a couple of games... of course, my pet monkey hits a game here and there two if I let him bet the whole sheet.

"my pet monkey hits a game here and there two if I let him bet the whole sheet."

I refuse to admit how hard I'm still laughing at that comment.

It hard to say that USC was overrated now that they lost to Cal - anytime you have rivalry games like this you can pretty much throw out the rankings and expect a tough game - it not like they lost by 30.

I was at the game and I have to tell you they are overrated. They had no running game and all they could do is get it to Mike Williams and see if he could make some moves. It was like a broken record, WR screen to Williams and see what he could do. If the #3 team in the country gives up over 400 yards in regulation and can't do much beyond that, they are overrated. Cal was easily the better team out there and deserved to win. They made numerous turnovers that cost them the chance to really put the game away in the first half as well. It was one of those games where one team totally dominated and yet they almost blew it due to blocked kicks and a QB trying to force passes.

USC has one of the best defenses in the country. They played a bad game today and got beat by a decent offensive team. It is hard to say they are overrated because of one game. Are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers overated because they lost a game this year???

The real question is...is Cal underrated???

having watched the games, I will say yes...they are one of the best "unknown" teams in the country

Wild Bill is correct USC has no running game at all,
Reggie Bush needs to start as he is a legit HR threat . Herschel Dennis is a nice back but has no explosion to him. Cal has improved more than any team in the country from Game 1 too the win over USC. How many NFL teams will be knocking on Jeff Tedford's door after this season

Jeff Tedford is the best young coach in Football and I have been saying this since he was an assistant at Oregon.
Quite simply he outcoached an overmatched Pete Carroll, and designed a winning game plan.
It was like watch anybody outcoach Mike Shula.
